Greetings all.

Since I don't see a "new members intro" forum on here, I thought I'd introduce myself to the locals. In the distant past I was a handgun owner and had my CPL. At some point, life got in the way and I had to sell my guns. Last year my wife told me that she would like to learn how to shoot and wanted to have a gun of her own. Who am I to argue with that? My good friend Bucks Gun Shop put her through a very thorough Pistol Safety Class and helped her figure out what kind of pistol she wanted. She decided on a semi-automatic and really liked his Colt Mustang. I ended up getting her a Sig Sauer P238 for Christmas. She has proven to be a natural shooter and loves going to the range. She likes it so much that she bought me an early birthday present: A Sig 1911 Carry. We've been hitting the range every other week or so and have an appointment with the EPD to get our CPL's in a couple of weeks. Thanks to Bucks for making both purchases as painless as possible. As it turns out, my wife likes my 1911 so much, she now wants one of her own, so another purchase is in my future.

In addition to all the other help, Buck's turned me on to the Open Carry movement and this forum. I'm not a political kind of guy, but I am alarmed at the steady erosion of our basic rights over the last decade plus and I ascribe to the theory that an armed society is a polite society. I can certainly see myself participating in the Open Carry cause.

Since Bucks likes this picture of his wares so much, I'll post it here just for him.

Welcome, I hope you both participate, I'm looking forward to a day when we wouldn't need guns, armies, law ENFORCEMENT officers, or nukes.... but until that happens, I will carry. Nice guns you have there!

If ever I were to buy a .380 it would be the Mustang based on looks alone. Great looking gun.

Welcome aboard Dave. I too have been pretty politically apathetic my whole life, not being a fan of the intrusions both the left and right have done on our fundamental human rights.

Wanna join my apathy party (a joke my late cousin and I had). It's my belief the least amount of involvement they have in our lives the better. And what better way than to have a party with no agendas.

Welcome to the board Dave! Its always nice to gain another member.

I give this advice to everyone that joins:
1) Make sure you have a thick skin, sometimes it can get rather interesting watching people discuss there positions and thoughts on a subject. If someone disagrees with you on something don't take it personally.
2) Always cite your sources (RCW, Cases, News, Etc), if your wanting to give your opinion on something make sure you clearly state that its your opinion and not fact. If you don't state its your opinion, you will likely be jumped for cites.
3) Enjoy yourself, we are a cool group of people, mostly similarly like minded. I look at this similar to a club.
4) Attend a local area coffee meetup. We have 3 regularly scheduled meetup's that occur monthly in different locations so that everyone can find one and attend (Listed below). If one of the existing meets don't match your schedule. Purpose a meet and you will likely get a few people to show.

Recurring Open Carry Meet ups (Forum threads normally posted week of):
-First Saturday of the Month, East Sound (typically Redmond, Woodinville or Bothell area)
-Second Saturday of the Month, South Sound (Federal Way)
-Every Sunday of the Month, Bellingham

Additionally, there are a couple yearly/annual parties and events that occur. You will want to keep an eye on the forum for these.

I would love to join your party. My brother is the ultimate bleeding-heart liberal of the "criminals just need an education and a chance" variety. I finally had to tell my family that I just couldn't tolerate political discussion at family gatherings any more. If it starts, my wife and I say our goodbyes and head on home.

Hell, you should feel right at home here. There are a good number of liberals here too; I'm not one of them, far from it. But you'll know when you've caught their ear, as they will try their darnedest to make you'll say your "goodbyes and head on home" on the topic. Don't worry they don't bite, they just annoy a lot.

LOL that was our joke

And if you look at the amount of people who actually turn up and vote....seems we may be the largest party .....:D

I actually vote religiously. For the last three election cycles I have considered my party affilliation to be TTBO, or Throw The Bastards Out. I don't care who is running, I vote against the incumbent or the incumbent party.

Welcome dave. Glad to see more people north of seattle on the forum. I don't know if you noticed but there is a few threads for everyday OC reporing in WA. I started one the other day for the Edmonds, Everitt, and Marysville are called the Snohomish County OC report. Look forward to hearing about your everyday carry. Also A coupe of us are trying to schedule a shoot for us up north guys. Most OC gatherings have been down south.

You should read the Arby's thread from FMJ911. He's doing a lunch gathering there on the 25th. It's in Snohomish.
