Its nice to see the ACLU working for our other rights, and defending the individual's rights.

Make's me happy to be a member of the ACLU, and to know my membership dues are going for such a good cause.

The cracked Liberty Bell. The Bell, like liberty, is fragile and may shatter if called upon to speak, "Proclaim LIBERTY throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof." Lev25:10

    I smell a trap.
Don't believe any facts that I say! This is the internet and it is filled with lies and untruth. I invite you to look up for yourself the basic facts that my arguments might be based upon. This way we can have a discussion where logic and hints on where to find information are what is brought to the forum and people look up and verify facts for themselves.

Here is what the Nevada ACLU has to say about the 2nd Amendment. Maybe more state ACLU affiliates are joining in.

State ACLU's vary widely on this issue. always have.

NATIONALLY, the ACLU has been craptastic on gun rights.

however, the ACLU is often more than willing to sign on in police misconduct cases, so where gun rights and police misconduct intersect, it surprises me not at all that ACLU would sign on

but in general, their national org has been a complete hypocritical joke on the 2nd amendmwnet

Duh. I didn't address the national .org, and clearly mentioned Nevada, and that state ALCU affiliates may be also getting supportive like the Nevada ACLU affiliate. In this instance, it appears that
Now the American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania ACLU may be supportive, along with NV ACLU.

It was difficult to see that, when you didn't post anything where you agreed with what I said.

The kind where someone claims to be a supporter then says a limit to the right is ok in court or somewhere that a restriction can become law; I suspect the ACLU.

I do not suspect the ACLU. I do not believe for one minute that the ACLU would waste resources to do what you seem to suspect.

And, it isn't just the ACLU. It is also Fiorino and his attorneys.

it is a known fact that the ACLU is a pro liberal organization and that pick the very liberal side to any issue. granted they have been very bad for the 2ndA, but they do have a running issue with the fourth and 5thA. so i am tickled when they come to the support of a fellow citizen
Luke 22:36 ; 36Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

Yes, but do not forget, that is 'as a whole.' Specifically, have you looked at the statements by the Nevada ACLU that I linked back a few posts?

The ACLU threw their hat in the ring to defend those college students in TX a few years ago who were prohibited by their campus from having an Empty Holster Day as part of their SCCC group.

ACLU attitudes vary GREATLY by state and region. Up here in the Mid-Atlantic, they are, as you put it, CRAPTASTIC on gun rights--from MD to NC. But in states like TX and NV--where most of their contributors are also gun owners, they have a MUCH different attitude...
It is our cause to dispel the foggy thinking which avoids hard decisions in the delusion that a world of conflict will somehow mysteriously resolve itself into a world of harmony, if we just don't rock the boat or irritate the forces of aggression—and this is hogwash."

Now, in THIS specific case, it appears that the 2nd Amendment is quite secondary, and/or irrelevant to the reason the ACLU is involved:

civil rights action against the City of Philadelphia and against the above-named persons in their individual capacities, for violation of his constitutional rights to be free from unreasonable searches, excessive force and malicious prosecution, and to speak without fear of retaliation.

Odd, I don't recall making that statement for you to agree with me on.

i didn't say you made that statement. you made a statement about a state ACLU. i confirmed this by adding that STATE ACLU's can be quite good on this topic, as contrasted with the national ACLU which isn't

i didn't realize some sort of circle jerk maneuver was necessitated. my bad

You tried to state that you agreed with something I said. You didn't, except in your own mind.

I didn't realize that when I pointed that out, that you would act like a jerk. Why are you being that arrogant LE that you are showing us all?

It's about time the left-wing, commie, bring-down-the-government ACLU did something in support of our Constitution... even though it's against the ACLU's avowed purposes. Pax...

    Lol. Commie ACLU lol...

You realize no other organization has done even a quarter of the work the ACLU has fighting for civil rights.

You think the NRA is going to help you when your civil liberties are trampled???

"The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism." - George Washington, Farewell Address, 1796

Read Timothy Ferris' The Science of Liberty: Democracy, Reason, and the Laws of Nature, on the confusion of right/left liberal/conservative and progressive/reactionary.

The ACLU's founder, Roger Baldwin, stated: "We are for SOCIALISM, disarmament, and ultimately for abolishing the state itself... We seek the social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class, and the SOLE CONTROL of those who produce wealth. COMMUNISM is the goal." Granted, the ACLU's actions have encouraged many Americans to closely consider the rights granted them by the Constitution, but their organizational "goal" hasn't changed a bit. (Inasmuch as we are now creating reading lists, read "ROGER BALDWIN: FOUNDER, AMERICAN CIVIL LIBERTIES UNION 1884-1981" by Robert C. Cottrell, Professor of History and American Studies at California State University, Chico. It's a shame that so many sheeple have lost the ability to think for themselves, and must therefore rely upon the written thoughts of others to shape their opinions.) I do see how the OP's post relates to OC, so I will cease participation in the political aspect of this discussion. Pax...

The NRA isn't a civil rights org, the ACLU is.
