Well state law authorizes your weapon, since you have a CPL ,or PTP)
Call for a cop, call for an ambulance, and call for a pizza. See who shows up first.

I actually think this was the intent.

It is funny since the people that will have illegal weapon either can't read or just don't and won't care about their sign. If they have an illegal gun why is a little sign going to change their life and make them go straight?

The larger sign has their out though in the last paragraph citing "comfort and safety" of their patrons. That is the excuse they will use on you there I bet. "Sorry sir, you are making people uncomfortable carrying your weapon"

And, if they are truly carrying "illegally", I would certainly hope the charge would be more than "trespassing", lol.

    My opinion concerning that sign....

I have respect for the property owner because he worded the sign in a way that shows support for folks who legally carry guns without using words that would "scare" folks who may not like guns... while still maintaining his right to make the rules on/in his property.

From the perspective of the owner needing to walk a fine line between doing what is right for all customers without turning away any one segment of customers I'd say to the owner...

Well done Sir! Well done indeed!

Gun control isn't about the gun at all.... for those who want gun control it is all about their own fragile egos, their own lack of self esteem, their own inner fears, and most importantly... their own desire to dominate others. And an openly carried gun is a slap in the face to all of those things.

The Mall is owned by Cafaro Industries of Columbus OH and they (Cafaro) have always been very anti gun, just FYI. I think if you OC there you will be asked to leave for some BS reason.

Once I get past a few health issues that are limiting my mobility I may test the waters there.

I agree. I don't think they will allow OC.

I would hope that what TheQ said is the thoughts behind the signs.

I would hope so too but knowing this corporation, I would be safer wishing to inherit the Hope Diamond. The signs are there for show I would wager, but once inside you will be harassed by mall security (I hate to use that term to describe them as they are an affront to real Security Officers).

Id say, just keep them busy. The more positive contact they have with us, the better OC will be represented. This includes the OCer speaking intelligently as s/he is being peacefully escorted off the property, proving they were not a threat even being treated like a second class person.

Good idea, not too sure how well it will work though. Generally people need to be open minded to look at the other side before they do. not sure they are (I mean at the corporate level not the individual level)

One core principle of open carry is the desensitization of the public through positive encounters.

Those security officers have opinions, and if they are against us, those opinions can be changed over time through our actions. Those security officers also have meetings and communications with bosses and owners. Having nothing negative to say, and only positive reports documented can change minds and then policies over time.

Perhaps, but there are only so many of us OC'ers in Monroe that can do this, and if we all get banned for OC there, not much we can do over the long haul. I know a guy that worked security there for a while and he was very supportive of CC/OC at the mall, sadly he isn't there anymore (better offer) and even if he was, he wasn't in a position to speak with any authority.

And really only the head of security had any contact with the owners at all. They have a new head of security but not sure what his views are on the issue.

Maybe a good place to start.

Maybe. Once I am able to move around better I will likely try it and see what happens. I am hoping it goes well, but not confident of that outcome knowing what I do of their policies. I have had dealings with them in the past.

So true. This should be posted in every thread where anyone discusses what an establishment's policy "may" be. If people OC and are told to leave, THEN a different response is demanded of us. Until that time, we should carry as we would anywhere else. If we always disarmed because of what we thought a property owner's position could be, where would we OC? My position is that we OC until told not to personally by those vested with the authority to do so.
