Defensive Handgun I course - Doswell, Va. Saturday, March 17, 2012

    Saturday, March 17, 2012 from 9am to 5pm

Defensive Handgun I is a structured shooting class designed to teach you the beginning shooting techniques needed to properly deploy your defensive handgun, while at the same time reinforcing safe gun handling skills. This is not a course for the novice gun owner, but rather for someone who carries a handgun on a regular basis and wants to learn & reinforce new skills beyond the basic fundamentals.

Students will shoot from standing, kneeling, and prone positions, at various distances at our outdoor range facility. The course generally runs about 6-8 hours, depending on class size (Limit 10 students per class).

    Topics include:

    Holster draw & Presentation
    Semi-auto malfunctions
    One/Two hand shooting techniques
    Linear/Lateral Movement
    Target Recognition
    Verbal Commands
    Magazine changes/reloads while shooting
    Shooting from Retention
Shooting from Standing, Kneeling & Prone Positions
Reinforcement of Basic Handgun Skills & Safety

Cost of the class is $150.00. You may register online at http://www.ProactiveShooters.com

Sh....it happens. Train for the worst, and you are prepared for anything.

Actually, the sun is rarely a problem there. Its actually been a welcomed friend. Having a ballcap helps.

Is that pic from the 'Shoot for the Cure' outing in December, Jim?
My friend still talks about how fun that day was and still wears her commemorative t-shirt.

It is from the SFTC event. Its the same drill we do in the DH-I class so I used the same pic, since it was a really good pic.

I'm hoping to have my RSO take a few more pics during our next DH-I class to update that page.

need to accessorize that thing! maybe some tacticool quad rails to mount lights, or rocket launchers. might could adapt some quality gun leather to mount on it, too. gotta keep the defensive tools close to hand, right? ;-)

Nope. I think a holster on the strong side would work just fine

That class rocked. You had lots of laughs because of that dorky married couple there

All night last night, I kept yelling at Mindy to stop and drop her weapon. During her sleep, I kept whispering in her ear, "fresh magazine first..."

    Good times!
