Just wanted to share this with anyone who was interested. I've read lots of conflicting claims about what's inside the Remington 870 Marine Magnum, so I asked Remington.

Short version: it's the Police model with a nickel finish.

My original question:
Hello,

I've read conflicting information regarding where in the 870 product line the Marine Magnum really lies. Some claim it is derivative of the Express Magnum models, others claim it is more akin to the Police model, and lots of people claim all manner of crazy whatnot.

Does the Marine Magnum have the same internal parts as the Police model? I'm very interested in the Marine Magnum, but would rather not have to upgrade Express Magnum internals. Thanks for the clarification!

Matthew

Remington's answer:
Matthew, The marine magnum was designed to resist corrosion geared toward water fowl hunters. I has electroless nickle plating on all metal surfaces which results as a highly moisture resistant finish. The internal parts are the same as our police models. Hope this helps

The marine magnum has a 18" fixed cylinder choke barrel and factory extended magazine. And it was designed for water foul hunting? Nickel plating notwithstanding, that right there is some lauaghable USDA Grade A certified bullcrap.
