Found out I have the option of having my old NEF .410 re-barreled with one of their newer barrels chambered for .45Colt/.410 (current one, I got back around 91 or so, is chambered only for the .410) fitted to my current reciever.

Im just curious as to what realisitic expections can be had with .45 Colt (standard-pressure loads) from 20 inch, rifled barrles?
Some of the .45 C chambered lever-guns out there are in 20" barrels, so I'm guessing it would be close to that?

Im not looking for, or expecting ,sniper-level accuracy, nor the ability to reach out and touch things a mile a way,nor the power levels of a .45-70. Intended use would be for fun, plus the option of use vs. small/med. pests and game within 50 meters, on average, if needed.

http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com/45colt.html = data on the .45Colt. Unfortunately for you, they only took it up to 18".

What you can expect performance-wise from any given platform (barrel, trigger, hold-the-parts-together thingy) is so dependent on the variable of each and of the most important part - the one holding on to the whole thing.

stay safe.

grr site is blocked on my work's machine/network, of course..im surprised i can even get in here, though. ill look it over @ home...

safe, I'll do. Like I said, im not seeking hot, high-pressure loads or .454/.45-70-level velocities, am just curious if I should expect roughly a 100-200fps difference, or something more like 2-300fps?
