Guns are bad - that is the message that is insidiously being delivered to the American public, particularly our youth. There was a time when owning and carrying a firearm was a very normal, common everyday practice in all levels of our society. Hunting, target shooting, and yes self-defense were all acceptable uses of guns. Every child "came of age" when he/she acquired their first gun. America was a mighty nation, comprised of gun owners that were taught the responsibilities of such ownership at the earliest age. Now they are subjected to a constant litany, a virtual barrage, of negative campaigning. The goal should be obvious = disarm the American people.
Fast forward to 1995, when a fear of guns had already become firmly rooted in segments of our society, and give a listen to Eric Holder's speech wherein he recommends "brain washing" as an acceptable method. We are in the middle of this plan of action against us - us being all of the people, we the people.
Eric Holder is our top law enforcement officer, the present Attorney General of the United States. He sits in that chair, not as a servant of the people, but to misuse his position to promote a personal agenda to change the perception of guns, the laws and thereby the enforcement of a gun free society. He stands along side the POTUS in this endeavor and is indeed the president's point man in this campaign of disarmament. The man will do anything, including sending U.S. guns to Mexico, to advance his cause - repeat, he will do anything to advance his cause. See examiner alerts_article.
What can we/you do to combat this? First I suggest teaching a kid to shoot - that is an experience that will make a difference. Get involved. Don't let city councils and school boards push this anti agenda, fight zero tolerance absurdities, join local and national organizations and vote!
Promote/defend your RKBA individually, one mind at a time; and collectively as a member of at least one of the many strong and cohesive RKBAs groups. Don't give up, don't become complacent, don't let Mikey do it alone.
As for me, my hands are neither cold nor dead yet. When they are, I intend to leave a legacy of freedom behind me.
