This month we're going to meet up for "Free Pie Wednesday" at the Village Inn in Rio Rancho. This VI hosted our last, annual OC meet back in December. They were very OC friendly and gave us an open invitation to meet there anytime.

Since this is our first monthly meet I wanted to start at a familiar place and go from there. We can discuss other times and locations at the meet.

    My OC Meet Tips:
(feel free to add your own)

    *Care how you look*
You're representing a controversial movement. Try not to fit the part of any stereotype other than "well-mannered law-abiding citizen".

*Don't touch your firearm unless you're drawing for protection*
If you want to show something off then do so without actually touching it. We don't want to give anyone (law-ignorant citizens) any further cause for alarm.

    *Be polite to everyone*
You may be confronted by a person with Hoplophobia (a mental disturbance characterized by irrational aversion to weapons). Police may respond to a call where someone reported "hundreds of terrorists pointing their machine guns at babies and old people." Just be nice, keep your cool, and leave ad hominem attacks out of it. If you can't do that or don't feel comfortable at any time just shut up and let someone else handle it.

*Be prepared to be criticized by your OC peers*
If you misrepresent the group you might be politely asked to make an adjustment. And if you think something I'm doing is bad for the movement or group then I expect to be told.

I might add that we had no negative "incidents" (not even any harsh looks, IIRC) at our last event at VI, but of course, not everyone out there approves of citizens OCing (CCing they'd never know) so it's just a heads-up re: any issues that some OCers HAVE encountered on occasion. It's always good to anticipate and have a plan of response.

Otherwise, just have a good time!

And WHEREVER you all meet at, it will (once again) be the safest eatery in town during your visit!

P.S. @ Travis: Nice looking "OC Event Ad" -- better than what I came up with last time at VI, expecially since you included the ever-most IMPORTANT item, a picture of the REAL reason you go to VI on a Wednesday: FREE PIE! ;-)

P.P.S. I am presently online at Dennys in Texas City, TX, doing these posts -- not OCing here unfortunately (not allowed in TX) but certainly CCing...
