I noticed the other day in one of the state parks near me that the signage is indeed changing.. this one read something to the effect of "..weapons must not be openly displayed, must not be accessible to minors, and must be secured."

When I visited Wiggins Pass State Park in Naples, FL they had a sign of a man holding a rifle pointed at should height parallel to the ground...with a big red X across the picture.

I asked what it meant, and the first guy said "uhh...no Firearms" and then I said firearms are now allowed in state parks and then the other employee said "uhh it means you need to have a permit, and you can't hunt here".

Now I know they're both just uneducated, but is that sign okay? I don't want CCW holders to see this sign and think it's a no guns sign instead of a no hunting sign (im guessing that's what they mean).

Do you think we can get the sign changed to be more accurate? I'd rather it just say "Hunting" with an X through it and get it over with. Most other state parks I've been to just simply painted over the square on the board that used to designate "no guns"

Please let me know what you can do.

That's interesting.

You and I would take it to mean "No Hunting" but I can see where others would think it's strictly a No Firearms type of sign.

You are correct in that it probably should have the word "Hunting" on it somewhere.
