As a customer or an employee?

As a customer I'd assume that since they sell guns and reloading supplies, they probably aren't anti-gun. But this thread says that an individual was asked to leave from the Gresham Bimart. I'm almost positive I've open carried at at least one of the Bimarts in Corvallis, but I can't find a post of mine that says I have, so I can't be sure.

I had the same problem at

Fisherman Marine Supply stating that Concealed weapon permits are ok. But they do not allow OC at the Oregon city location specifically. It really comes down to the manager on duty and whether or not they know their company's policy. If you get a chance ask to talk to the store manager and review their policy see if you can get a copy of it.

update

Wanted to get this posted yesterday but oh well. So i WAs in bimart OCing as usual. got a couple hardware things then went to get some plinking ammo. I got a box and started to discuss some defense rounds with the sporting goods clerk. I walked away with no mention about my gun. I was walkin back by the sporting goods section when the other clerk told me "you cant have that here." I told him id like to see the stores policy about this ussue and he said ill have to talk with the manager. I walked up to the front of the store and politely asked for the manager (being polite the whole time) i told the assistant manager i was informed i cant open carry here and would like to see some store policy about it. His innitial response was "i dont have to give you anything." I replied that im just trying to be an informed individual since no notice is posted anywhere prohibiting firearms... he said to wait if i wanted and he would call loss prevention to seek clarification, but befor doing so he sold me my ammo. I stood at the front of all the regesters waiting by his booth clearly displaying my OC firearm safely tucked in its holster.. i couldnt hear the conversations the AM had very well but it almost sounded like there is no policy regarding this issue. He came back to me and said its a verbal policy and he has nothing to give me. I asked he take my name and adress to have his hr mail me the policy. I asked for his busness card and he wouldnt give me one, simply said i dont have one. I tried to inform him about being able to lawfully oc in oregon but he didnt care and i was a bit rusty... rather practice with him than leo. He tried telling me that it scares costomers. My only repy was i understand...didnt want to get into that with him at that time. I went home looked on the web for any policy and couldnt find one. I left a comment on there website explaining what happened. I also told them i would like to shop in there stores without my rights being violated.

Several months ago I filled out the BiMart website comment card asking specifically about carry in BiMarts and didn't get an answer. No reply. I waited a couple of weeks and asked again. No reply. then a third time I just asked if anyone was answering inquiries from the website. Not a reply for that either.

Not sure what to think. Eager to hear if you get any replies to your requests.

No, but they're well within their rights to ask you to leave, even without producing an official policy. You're also well within your rights not to shop there anymore. If you were so indignant about being asked to leave, then why did you buy ammo there?

I talked to the director of store operations two years ago, and he said that the policy is that bi-mart doesn't care if you conceal in their store, perfectly legal with or without a permit due to it being private property, but that open carry "can alarm customers" I told him that I would be spending the thousands I currently spend there elsewhere if he was going to make me conceal. I then told him I was in the media, and I would be happy to inform my viewers of their anti-gun policy. He basically apologized to me for their policy and then nicely told me to go **** myself.
In short you can carry there, but you have to conceal it. If a manager, or anyone, tells you you can't, then tell them to call the director of store operations to consult the corporate policy.

If they see me carrying CC then I'm doing something wrong. If I OC in there and get asked to cover, then I would just comply since it is private property. Though I've never had any issues either way.

I've had a manager at one Medford Bi-Mart ask me to conceal, my reply "I can leave if you like but I won't conceal it". He wanted to keep my business so he said "Well I'll just escort you then so the customers don't get worried". My response, "I'll leave if you want me to but I won't be escorted around the store". He dropped it.

My personal take is NEVER switch from open to concealed because of a store manager/employee, just leave if they insist. And NEVER, EVER, NO WAY NO HOW, give them a dime of your money if they ask you to leave (i.e. do NOT buy the things that you have in your hand/cart/etc.). Just set down the (hopefully hundreds of dollarsof merchandise) and calmly walk out the door.

If it is sit down restaurant, if they ask you to leave, they are in breach of the implied contract and you should not pay them any money for the beverages or food that they agreed to provide to you (along with a place to consume them). So don't let them try to "make it to go" for you or any other nosense....simply state "if you are insisting that I leave before my meal is complete then you are in breech of contract and I am under no obligation to pay since you are the breeching party".

I never received any replies to any of my inquiries. I even sent just a general inquiry to see if anyone monitored the email contact. No replies to that either.
