    Nra stl

Anyone going to the NRA convention downtown? I wouldnt.

They have a message on NRA website
"Note: The city of St. Louis prohibits the carrying of firearms at the America's Center Convention Complex."
    http://www.nraam.org/

I am assuming they are pointing at 571.107? It is not even criminal.

Does the NRA (you know the ones who support our right to bear arms) have any clue? Ill be damn if someone tries to search me and just turn right back around.

Am I looking at this wrong? My jaw dropped to the ground.
Be damned i go to the city of st louis I carry my 9mm and .45.

Technically, America's Center is owned by the St. Louis Regional Sports Authority, and is operated and managed by the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission, which are both state commissioned entities. As part of the lease/rental agreement, the NRA may not have had a choice regarding the "no guns" policy established by the City (presumably by ordinance). The bottom line is, if they are using metal detectors at the door, they are not going to allow you to enter with a gun - regardless of whether or not your entry with the firearm would be criminal. Property owners have the right to determine who enters and with what, as it should be.

Now why in the world would anyone think they would need any protection outside the convention center especially Sat April 14 when the Trayvon Martin rally takes place. The boyz from the hood surely won't be there with the hoodies and gats looking for trouble will they?

so how many new "illegal guns" will hit the streets when they are stolen from cars where CCW'ers were forced to leave them?

    Great laws!

yes that is true and i was thinking that just didnt type it...maybe i should of stated why the NRA would hold such event knowing that the rights would be restricted? also why is it the NRA's job to inform people no firearms are allowed? it is up to the citizens to know their rights.

i guess im getting at why they would sponsor an event when it goes against what they "fight" (using that term loosely now) for. i guess they have no choice due to the large number of people. cant really fit all those people into a starbucks

I just read on another forum that they have brought in temporary metal detectors at the door and that the Secret Service is on hand due to the fact that Flip....er....I mean, Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich are scheduled as guest speakers. The very fact that those two dolts will be there, IMO, degrades the entire event. Two anti-gunners scheduled to speak at an NRA event. Wow.

Spent the day there yesterday. No truth to your statement for the exhibition hall. Couldn't tell you about the meetings with the politicians. Just about all meetings with presidents and candidates that receive Secret Service usually have detectors/wands at the entrances.

Even though many argue he can't win, there is no question that Ron Paul has had a significant effect to this election. His views are popular enough to taint the views of the mainstream candidates. You'd think the NRA would invite him as a speaker. After all, this is a guy who walks the crowd and meets and greets open carriers.

Several of us in NV recently wrote the NRA's local field representative to tell him we will not be attending a local Friends of NRA event because they chose to hold it at a known anti-gun venue that specifically prohibits carry. And it's not like we have a shortage of banquet facilities in Las Vegas!

Did they send you a reply that said they didn't give a sh!t if you came or not? That seems to be their usual attitude.

Yeah, we all received the same reply about how the cause was bigger than the venue. Um, that's what we were telling THEM. Hello!

They do have a RP thread you can worship/pat your candidate on the back or pay tribute to.

Outside of AZ or NV, there aren't many venues that can handle the crowd for this event and it not prohibit firearms. Do the casinos in NV allow OC or CCW? Just curious.

Being how I didn't attend, I can't say whether or not the statement was accurate at all - it's just what I read on another forum.

Huh? My post fits this thread, and has nothing to do with "worship" or any other media-type buzzword you wish to use.
