The fact that he dodged it just means that he was smart enough to figure out how to avoid involuntary servitude.
Or have you not read the 13th Amendment.
A friend of mine was drafted and he took it with a grain of salt and learned how corrupt the military/government really was.

Another one was in Nam as a Helicopter repair man and ended up flying missions getting shot down at least 3 times. He's still there sometimes.
