    OC at the Mall

Are most malls in the area still a no go? After reading most of the encounters at local malls, I'm kind of hesitant to enter one OCing. I don't mind the stores with external entrances. My concern is the over eager mall "cops" not the shoppers.

For the most part they have their 'rules' against any type of weapon. Being private property they will ask you to leave. Some have had success (Bellingham).

A strategy to employ: Carry CC on the way in and while you are shopping. When you are done and ready to leave. Excuse yourself to the restroom and OC. If you are asked to leave...well no biggie.

Most malls "prohibit" carry of any sort. You might get "away" with it if none of the mall ninjas notice. Whether you agree or not any private property can set their own rules. So I just choose to not conduct business with companies that don't agree with my views for the most part. I've hated malls longer than I've owned weapons, so I could care less. It provides me one more excuse to not go thank god. Dental appt?, or go to the mall? I'm going to the dentist.

South hill mall is fine. Their signs specifically say legal weapons are ok. Never mind the fact that criminals would just ignore them.
You'll have to cc at Tacoma, supermall, the commons, south center. Those are off the top of my head. I tend to avoid the mall. I'm really not a fan.

That's good to know. My family and I are in the South Hill area quite often.

    Past indication....

    Asked to leave

I will let Scott account for his own account but here is mine.

We left the meet and headed for the South Hill Mall via my place. We entered from near the target side and walked the food court. I went inside the bathroom to have a janitor ask for my paper to carry a weapon. I said the constitution was a tad large to fit into my pocket but he can reference the 2nd amendment. He asked for my license to CC. I let him know I am OC and not CC so there is no permit. He responded AGAIN about my CC and I let him know it was an Open Carry. I came out of the bathroom where Scott, my wife, and both my kids were waiting. We checked out Yankee Candle, We even bought stuff @ Game on and had no issues. We went through the halloween store, Spencer's and then Game Stop near Payless shoes. Scott was coming out (almost 1 hour total to the minute) when a security guard came up to me. I immediately put my hand out to shake his.

    Me: How's it going today?
    SG: Are you guys Detectives?
Me: We are not. (He shakes my hand tenatively)
SG: You guys can't carry like that in here. I know you guys have the LAW on your side but this is private property.
Me: Ok, I understand. I have my sweatshirt. Do you wish me to cover up?
SG: I wish you to leave. You can cover up in the parking lot and return.
Me: Not a problem. We parked near Target. Should we leave through THIS door or can we go through the mall again?
SG: (quieter tone) You can walk back to target.
Me: No problem. Are you going to escort us or are we free to go?
SG: I'm not going to escort you.
    Me: Have a good day.

He radios back something. I couldn't here. maybe Scott can add

So there it is. I will be drafting a letter for them to explain their policy when their sign says what it does about lawful carry. I am also going to personally not patron the place for a while since their policies need some adjusting. Ah well, I didn't want to eat there anyway.
You will be asked to leave. http://forum.opencarry.org/forums/sh...ght=south+hill

Kitsap mall still has no firearms / knife / weapons sings up. Actually its a sign its all on the small price of paper labeled rules that you have to go out of your way to find when you walk in

I think south hill and Tacoma mall still have no firearm signs up due to increased gang activity

Negative. As stated before the signs specifically say legal is ok. The exact wording is something along the lines of, "No firearms except as authorized by law."
I have never had a problem there. My wife OC's almost every weekend in that specific mall. I OC'd right into the security office this past winter to let them know about a guy harrassing customers. I know they saw the 1911 on my hip.
There are signs at every Tacoma entrance. There are also signs at almost every South Center entrance. They don't have one at the Sears entrance so I just conceal and use that entrance. I go there for the Oakley store otherwise I wouldn't.

Are you talking about the one in Port Orchard or Silverdale. Because I OC in the Port Orchard mall all the time and even talked with the lady that manages the place about getting a store front in there wile OC. That place might be called South Kitsap mall or something.

Some malls, like the Everett Mall, could use the extra customers. They should encourage those who carry to shop there. Won't be long and that mall will end up like some in California----Empty.

I was thinking the same thing,

    1. The reason there is an increase in gang activity is why I want to have my pistol; I don't want to trust my wife or my life to a mall cop.

    2. Since when did a gang memeber care about a sign or the law for that matter.

Sounds like most of you guys are over on the West side, but I've open carried in the three big malls here in Spokane (Northtown, Downtown, and Valley mall) and never once been asked to leave. Three times at Northtown I've been approached by security officers, they asked if I had a concealed carry permit and then let me go about my business. The other two malls I've never had anyone say a word.

She started doing it not too long after I did. At first she only did it while she was out with me but now she does it on her own. I think she actually prefers OC to CC mainly because it is just easier. She doesn't like going anywhere unarmed.
