I submitted my application on March 16th and got my card on April 17th in Churchill County.

From what I read, LV area is running an average of 90 days.

I submitted mine February 27th in Washoe Co., still waiting. I heard 90 days for Washoe too. I agree that in this day and age...90-120 days is excessive.

90-120 days does seem like a long time, but you need to think about:
A) How big is the department processing the applications?
B) How big is their load at any given point in time?
For instance, in my county there is one person that processes CCW applications, and she works on them one day a week. So, depending on the caseload, I can see for that department how it could take 90 days to go through.
Moral of the story: It takes time to get it done. Stalking the mail carrier may seem like a good idea, but it won't make it show up any faster.

My CFP instructor told us it also depends on the commonality of your name, could take longer than some others. ie. John Smith vs. Plaxico Burress lol I turned in my paperwork this past Monday but I'm not gonna fret too much as I do prefer OC over CC any day. I wanted the CFP to keep my options open.

I still OC, even though I have CCW. CCW, for me is a convenience and gives me more options.
The main one is, that I can now carry my firearm through a Federal Gun Free School Zone. That means I don't have to worry about breaking the law driving around town, and pass a school.
Having a CCW doesn't take away your ability to OC. You can still do both.

Ccw just gives you a way to carry in places that it is not welcome (but IS legal). When the family comes from out of town and insists on dinner at the casino, for example. No point in arguing with them about OC. Just make lemonade and cc. At least you can ::evil grin:: on the inside knowing that you've just proven the point about the silly signage being ineffective.

What I don't understand is that as a Canadian in the U.S I can legally OC anywhere any U.S citizen can OC, but to CCW I have to be a U.S citizen or resident alien. It makes going from hotel room to street and walking through casinos an interesting game.

Ashley and Jr received their CCW Permit today. 1 month and 4 days-Issued on 7-6. Maybe mine will be here soon.

I hope one day we can change the law in Nevada to allow for concealed carry without a permit. That would be the solution to all the concealed firearm permit problems in one swoop!

Nothing in Nevada law prevents a non-immigrant alien from obtaining a concealed firearms permit. Clark County will not issue one because they incorrectly claim that non-immigrant aliens can not possess firearms. They could be sued for this.
If you want a Nevada CFP, apply for one, being a non immigrant alien is not a disqualifier.
