Seems to me that the state is merely trying to cover its tracks by inflating reality to some asinine degree.

He did what any solider/marine would do if some idiots, regardless of uniform, came crashing through his front door. An officer paid for this stupidity with his life and several more injured.

These kinds of raids are dangerous for both ends, not to mention meaningless to begin with. Complete stupidity.

I wish I could say this story is "unbelievable."

Unfortunately, this is the entirely-predictable result of our country's insane War on Some Drugs and Crusade to Make People Better by Controlling Them.

I suppose we ought to thank Nixon for this decades-long War on Drugs that has been effective at mass incarceration, murder, and a robust Police State.

And every squatter in the White House since...including your beloved Obama.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/25/obama-marijuana-raids-rolling-stone_n_1451744.html

"I'm not going to be using Justice Department resources to try to circumvent state laws [on medical marijuana]," Obama promised in 2008, according to an earlier Rolling Stone report. But Attorney General Eric Holder announced in 2010 that federal authorities would continue to prosecute individuals for marijuana possession, despite its legalized status in some states.
The Huffington Post's Lucia Graves reported recently on subsequent enforcement activity:
Since then, the administration has unleashed an interagency cannabis crackdown that goes beyond anything seen under the Bush administration, with more than 100 raids, primarily on California pot dispensaries, many of them operating in full compliance with state laws. Since October 2009, the Justice Department has conducted more than 170 aggressive SWAT-style raids in 9 medical marijuana states, resulting in at least 61 federal indictments, according to data compiled by Americans for Safe Access, an advocacy group.

And the double-speak (I see where you get it from):
"What I specifically said was that we were not going to prioritize prosecutions of persons who are using medical marijuana," Obama said. "I never made a commitment that somehow we were going to give carte blanche to large-scale producers and operators of marijuana -- and the reason is, because it's against federal law."

Ah, yes, hope and change...lol.

Already a couple of the faithful have sent in checks for a foundation memorial to the innocents who perished at the hands of the ninja at Waco. ... I have been criticized by referring to our federal masked men as "ninja" … Let us reflect upon the fact that a man who covers his face shows reason to be ashamed of what he is doing. A man who takes it upon himself to shed blood while concealing his identity is a revolting perversion of the warrior ethic. It has long been my conviction that a masked man with a gun is a target. I see no reason to change that view

This is a horible story.

The cops should not have busted down a door in the middle of a night. Exp. A vets house. over a little weed!?! Man they really need to do there reserch!

If they 1. Got his past history, seeing that all he has on his P.R. Is a small insurance ticket. They could have knocked on the door and he would have most likly let them in after he found out of the warent

2. They should know he is a vet!!

3. Now since you looked and know he is a war vet you know that he may have P.T.S.D

I feel so bad for this guy. I pray that he finds a way out of this.
If that was me in his shoes I would waste no time emptying my clips into these men! I dont care if your the pope, if you have a mask on (or off) un announced in my home braking down doors im wasting every bullet I have into you. because this is MY home. I have a loaded handgun with one chamered ready for anypne braking my door. Also have a loaded pistole grip 12GA with a flashlight straped to the bottom of my boxspring easy to grab. Buckshot loaded in there, only incase im still sleeping rubbing my eyes if im not all the way awake

Twelve came thru the door. He got half of them. Now that is "Gun Control" Article did have an admission of a bunch of "friendly fire", how many got each other?

Why were the LEOs not charged with a crime?? Oh yeah, Immunity, the generic "get out of jail free card" Why is the county atty (that would be Weber County Attorney Dee W. Smith) so adamant to a murder charge.

I don't know how the d.a sleeps at night trying to give a murder charge and death penalty to a man who protected our freedom. This guy has p.t.s.d in the middle of the night police kick down his door, he did what anyone of us would do of someone's braking into our house. He opened fire at them. The story about him just makes me cringe. I'm hoping that the people in his county and people who can afford to go out there protest the sh** out of the D.A on all charges for the shooting! I think be should be charged with his Mary Jane and the bomb (if it was one) and that's all the shooting is completely the police fault. If anyone of them cops had there door broke down in the middle of the night, i would bet my left nut, that they to would open fire on the intruders. Such a bad story and ending for the vet. I feel so bad that he has to sit in a jail cell knowing that the state will be trying to murder him now. All for a simple mistake that the police made. NOT HIM.

I didn't see where they actually found the weed they were looking for. Was this another case of wrong address? If so, the police and DA need to be apologizing, both to the vet and the survivors of the slain officers, and an investigation made into how the warrant was issued.

I agree I didnt see if any weed was found. also if any maybe it was a small amount thats why it didnt brake the news. I almost didnt want to open this story up because of how much it gets to me. Iv had my home raided by police when I was 16 in the city of port washington wi.

All because of peoples gossip. The police were told I had a full auto riffle and large amount of pot. Thats what was in there report. They found nothing in my house not a single illegal thing. Cops broke my door pinned me down while I was asleep and cuffed me. Same done to my brother. My mom and younger sister were told to sit outside. On my livingroom floor is where they sat me and my brother. They tore up our home, cussed at us, pushed us down on the floor for moving. Yet they had nothing on us but bad information from someone. I have a vary vary deep hatred for LEO in that town since then. (not all LEO aare bad people some are vary nice I shoot with one ecery now and again) but bad info or wrong house could be the reason they went there.

But back on topic I hate reading about this because of how much it gets on my nerves I hope he gets out of these horible charges

I am merely pointing out that Nixon started the wonderful program.

Your moments of brief lucidity aside, it is the public that has demanded protection from every percieved threat the leftist media invented, problems socialist zealots created, or whatever social call "progressives" have insisted needs to be funded and studied (and never been successful at even answering let alone solving) that motivate all political parties and candidates.
