Upgraded - Grip panels/screws, replaced ambi thumb safety with low profile classic safety, blued the damned billboard on the slide, curved mainspring housing, and I put in an over-sized firing pin stop.

Just picked this up Tuesday after trying to locate one for a year... She's my first 1911...

Nice...Thanks for your review comments. It's ironic that I came on here this morning to ask if anyone had a "e" series and lo and behold. :)

I was just perusing the S&W site yesterday and really like it. I read some reviews and they seemed to all be positive.

Glad I could be of some sort of assistance. My stance on it is still pretty much the same. The only gripe is still the magazines. I need to find me some nice ones, or at least see if what I'm experiencing is normal for a 1911. This being my first one I could be doing something wrong. I've only put another 50 additional rounds through it since my initial post, and have carried it (openly of course) quite a few times. It's a sweet firearm and sweet shooter. For me, it was worth more than the year long search for it. :)

I am really liking this 1911 sir! Don't scream if I decide to buy this exact one too! The combination makes it look nice besides the standard flat black, silver, etc. The wood grip, lower flat black, with the upper frame makes it a nice looking 1911!

Anyone ever shot the Remington R1 1911? Looking at purchasing this as my next firearm purchase and wanted to know some people's input on this model. I heard and read over that this is suppose to be what a 1911 would be. Also correct me if I am wrong this was suppose to be the original provider of the 1911 years back for the service?
