I've been OC for about five months now, took it up from working a coal mine security job in the middle of nowhere. Anyhow, I have yet to encounter anyone else OC or (obvious) CC. It's quite odd really.

I rarely get over to Magoffin county that much anymore, it used to be one of the many counties I used to work when I was with C.A.P., but that was a few years back. About the closest I come to the area is as I'm passing through on my way to Lexington for gun shows or such.

I'm not sure of the mentality of the PD over there either, I know that if a county's law enforcement has a bad POV of OC or CC, then it does effect how people view it for some reason. I basically stick to Floyd & Johnson county and you rarely see people over here exercising their Rights to OC that much, I can't speak for CC as you'd never know if someone's really carrying unless they're really bad at it. *LOL*

True but consider how ... special most folks around here are. If you ever spot a guy in Floyd with a little hi point c9 on his side you may have found me :p

Come on up to Boyd county and you will see plenty of OCers. It seems like I see at least one person everyday now, sometimes more. I was in walmart a few months ago and I witnessed 6 people OCing in the short amount of time I was there. It helps if you go out and inform people in your community of their gun rights, and always let people know the legality of OC if they ask you questions. Most people are ignorant of their' rights, but are often pleased when they hear they too have the right to OC.

I do, anyone speaks to me about mine I go into a full spiel about it. Yep, love my little hi point, had to work on it a little bit, but boy does it fire smooth now. As for Boyd county, most drivers up there scare the crap out of me. (mini story) Few years back I tried to join the ARMY (not knowing about the recruiter in pikeville) and he took me and another recruit to take our ASVAB in WV. I think I left fingernail prints in the seat of his car.

This past Friday I went to the Hillbilly Arm Drop Drag Races at the old Combs Airfield in Johnson County. I was open carrying as always. I didn't notice anyone else openly carrying. I stood the whole time watching the races and never had any trouble with the LE's that kept walking around. I had one gentlemen that kept staring at me the whole time, but I didn't pay him any attention back. All in all it was a good day.
Oh, and if you're ever in Floyd County around Prestonsburg or Martin and see a big guy open carrying a Taurus 9mm. Then chances are you've found me!:monkey:cool:

Well, I'll keep a look out for you Acuzio. If you should ever happen to see a big guy carrying a SIG P229 Elite, well chances are that that's me! *LOL* I circulate around the Floyd/Johnson area and I'm always carrying.

I shift from OC to CC depending upon where I am, what I'm doing or what best suits the situation. I generally OC for educationally purposes as people will usually ask me about carrying once they notice the sidearm but for the most part, it tends to just blend in with my attire. *LOL*

I had thought about going to that event but a week or so before, I got an invitation to go down to North Carolina with some friends. Just for the record, if anyone's travelling down to N.C., their carry laws are like ours here. OC is legal but for self safety, I'd go CC, they honor our CCDW down there. If you're going to be Cherokee, N.C., they allow OC/CC as well but they DO NOT allow weapons in the bingo hall or casino!
