OC is liberating, educational and chicken soup for the soul.

When the question was asked would VCDL like to be involved, PVC w/o hesitation said, "Absolutely!"

The question was posed to the initiator/planner of this event and he concurred - so there you are ladies and gentleman - we stand united and strong. Obviously special thanks and recognition goes to T-Dubya for putting this together and carrying the load - he took the opening kickoff and ran it all the way down field. That is what being an activist is all about - seeing a need and stepping forward. Kudos.

T-Dubya did make a request - one which I think I can honor w/o conflict - he wants to see as many people OCing as possible. VCDL has always said that the organization does not direct how someone carries as it is an individual's choice whether to OC, CC or noC. As an individual, I will stand with T-Dubya and encourage any and all to OC proudly at this picnic - this was/is part of his original reason for having this event - to show that normal everyday honest people do exercise their rights by simply being what they are: LAC going about their daily routine. Open carry speaks volumes all by itself - let your voice be heard.

BTW - events like these are always family friendly, spouses, children, young and not so young + blue collar, white collar, T-shirt and button downs. Bring a friend, a neighbor, a co-worker - let them see for themselves who and what we are. Last of all, no OC is not required - just know that it is being encouraged by T-Dubya and myself.

We need one in the Hampton Roads area ;p

We plan to this year. I just need to get Board approval. We need to thank Delegate Pogge for the local government employee "guns in car" bill she put in for us this year. There will probably be a few other picnics, too.

VCDL has a firm policy of remaining silent on how or if everyone carries. We support all modes of carry equally. In my experience virtually all VCDL members open carry at VCDL events, so there will be no shortage of people enjoying their rights and freedoms! Thanks to TDubya for getting the ball rolling on this! An upcoming alert will help spread the word.

Skidmark - if you want to arrange for a cake, VCDL will pay for it.

I'll keep an eye on how many.

Might want to add an iPod docking station or some other music for background, if someone has one. I don't, or I'd offer.

Be sure and let the OP (post #1) know by PM - quantity of food depends on an accurate head count.

What he said. I cannot check the forum every day, but I can; at least check the forum every other day.

There are still a few things that are in flux because of whatever. The only thing that is 100% certain is Shelter 4 at Pocahontas State Park is reserved and paid for by me for Sunday June 3rd.

The family and I will be there. So that'll be six people. I'll PM T Dubya as well. I dont know what were going to bring yet. My wife and I will have to make that decision soon. Also were raising a Guiding Eyes for the Blind dog and are planning to bring her along. But she wont be eating people food.

That's great you're bringing the mustard. Do you think you could bring some other condiments too?

We've got 33 people coming so far and some very crucial things that we need folks to commit to. I know times are tight, I'm reminded of that every day that I have to go to the grocery store, but we have to eat. Don't break the bank, just food for thought.
