Sadly, I see that there was a shooting in downtown OKC last night. It's a shame folks can't enjoy themselves without the fear of being shot by a little gang banger. I'm not sure the shooting was gang related, but a video on Newsok.com shows the police arresting a bunch of black guys. Not racist just saying..... Just another good reason for a citizen to be armed in these troublesome days.

Yeah - If you have 90-120 days to wait for your license to legally practice your 2nd amendment. I was near that crap when it happened and guess what. I was defenseless. That sucked. I am still waiting on my dang Concealed Carry License. It is inexcusable that our legislation allows it to take 90 + days to get a license.

It was a real pain in the rear for sure. I went ahead and got the 10 year deal, not much more money. The fingerprinting here in Canadian County was a real trip, really old jail. It's not like I haven't been fingerprinted before.

Just curious about your user name......

The application process is something that really needs to be redone. I'm going to use VA as an example as my VA permit was a fast and easy thing to do and get. Once fingerprints, application and money is given to court clerk a judge had 45 days to review and sign off on it. If not you are given a permit anyway untill it is approved or denied. If denied you have to turn in temp permit and are given an appeal court date to argue your reason for denial. My wife and I submitted them at the same time. I got mine 14 days later and she got hers 17 days later.
We need to push for reform of this next year.

Lack of Knowledge

When I was working with our legislators on SB 1733, I had many of conversations about the application time limit and that Wisconsin processed on average 18,000 licenses per month compared to our 2,200. They all did not realize that it was taking close to 90 days and were disappointed.

It’s not the OSBI's fault, I am sure they were given this task, but not allocated extra staff. Our OK legislation is too busy spending money on pork belly projects like bridges to nowhere, than providing appropriate staffing for something they mandated.

Oh Well

Just consider the initial 90 day wait time well spent. Once you get that permit in your hot little hands, it's all downhill from there. I got mine back in 2003, and had it within six weeks of applying. Guess it just depends on the workload at the time, there may have been fewer applicants back in 03 than there are now. But the re-application process is easy and speedier, all done by mail, with only new pictures required on your part. My first license was for five years, on the re-apply I did the ten year thing, so am good until July 2018. ;-)

Anyway, at the time I applied I had a valid security clearance, and that may have speeded things up a tad. Just patiently wait your license, then you get to decide everyday whether to pack or not. I work at Tinker so cannot carry most days. Prior to working there, I carried every day, even at work.

As to the game shooting, I thought packing at sports events was not allowed. I recall a paragraph within the rule book about that. Therefore even if you have a license, your still unprotected. I avoid going places I cannot carry at all costs. And I hate sports events and f--king casinos more than anything.

The law states that you can not carry a concealed weapon into an arena during a professional sporting event. Given that the individuals who were taken into custody were under 21, they would not have been able to carry a concealed weapon legally in the first place. Nothing would have stopped people outside the arena from carrying concealed weapons however.

WA gives them 30 days max...most take less than a week. Last time I renewed I applied on Thursday, it was in my mail biox on Monday. My original was about the same (I've carried since 1970)
