OC Holsters

Hi guys and gals.Its been about 10 years since i carried my gun and have a question about OC.Do most of you OC with a retention holster?

Great info on this site and trying to catch up on all the laws.

I prefer:

Raven concealment phantom
Desantis thumb break scabbard

I avoid:

Serpa
Paddle holsters

I'm getting a Fobus retention style belt holster. I currently have a cloth holster with a strap. Its cumbersome to draw quickly.

I avoid Serpas and Paddle holsters of any type. I don't trust either in a struggle and have seen too many fail in retention exercises. I also am not fond of the plastic quality and complicated nature of these items.

Well, I'll just counter Rich by saying that my Serpas have worked great as well as thousands of other people's Serpas. They wouldn't be popular if they didn't work. Ever try to get a Serpa paddle off your belt without practically taking your pants off? It ain't happening. I respect Rich's opinion, just wanted to give my own. I agree with him on the DeSantis holsters, great brand.

As for the OP, I always OC with some kind of retention holster. It is a smart move all-around. Just make sure you practice extensively with whatever you choose.

I use a blackhawk serpa and couldn't be more pleased with it.
