Then armed police officers are part of the problem. It's only logical.
I wonder what the solution to the Firearm Problem is than: Ban firearms in certain venues in Seattle?; wait, preemption. It looks like Seattle is going to have to focus on the gang issue--the people in the gangs--not the inanimate objects they use to shoot at other thugs--missing of course, and hitting innocent civilians.
I wonder though: has anyone thought of possibly offering free range time to gang members so that when they do shoot at one another they will hit their intended target?--it seems a better solution that what this article seems to be implying:
""A person who has a gun is more likely to use a gun," said Metz after the weekly council briefing." http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/htm...iefing30m.html

I don't mind watching the OC-Community (tea party 2.0's, who have hijacked the OC-Community) cannibalize itself. I do mind watching OC dragged through the gutter. OC is an exercise of A Right. I choose to not OC; I choose to not own firearms. I choose to leave the OC-Community to it's own self-inflicted injuries, and eventual implosion. Carry on...
Then armed police officers are part of the problem. It's only logical.

Cops backing a local political agenda! Say it ain't so! More tired crap, from crappy crap heads who don't know crap about the crap they are crapping. Perhaps they should ban guns and become a peaceful utopia like Chicago...

yeah... just saw this on the news.... sheesh... 'oh yee, who have eyes, but cannot see...'
I aim with my eye... I shoot with my mind... I kill with my heart....

It has been brought to my attention that the stick figure decals on
the back windows of vehicles are NOT pedestrian 'kill' scores, but are
actually meant to represent family members. I'll be removing mine
ASAP to avoid any further confusion.........
First comes smiles, then lies. Last is gunfire.
Better outlaw child bearing, because people who have children are more likely to harm them!
I was stabbed by a pencil once, we should outlaw those too.
We should outlaw cops because they commit a higher rate of violent crime than the general population. And statistically speaking cities with a higher police ratio have higher crime stats so that must mean crime is caused by police presence. (sarcasm)
I am not anti Cop I am just pro Citizen.
U.S. v. Minker, 350 US 179, at page 187
"Because of what appears to be a lawful command on the surface, many citizens, because
of their respect for what only appears to be a law, are cunningly coerced into waiving their
rights, due to ignorance." (Paraphrased)
Provision for free medical attendance and nursing, for clothing, for food, for housing, for the education of children, and a hundred other matters, might with equal propriety be proposed as tending to relieve the employee of mental strain and worry. --- These matters obviously lie outside the orbit of congressional power. (Railroad Retirement Board v Alton Railroad)
Now Diaz has a 'Deputy Chief' making inane comments...
The violent SPD is denying there is a gang problem. They do so at there peril. Gang problems grow, not shrink while in denial.
I demand that SPD Police Chief resign immediately and I demand that the remainder of the top SPD brass be expunged over the next 3 years.
Live Free or Die!
I think I shall try writing a letter to the Mayor's office and maybe even the Governor. I don't think anybody will listen, but I think there is some sense (and some mild humor) in pro-2A members and organizations stating that we believe the level of violence is problematic, unacceptable, and something should be done about it. I will let y'all know what I come up with.
A LAC who has a gun, especially OC, is LESS likely to use it.
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world; it's the only thing that ever does.- Margaret Mead
Those who will not fight for justice today will fight for their lives in the future,
Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well armed lamb contesting the vote. Benjamin Franklin
It is very wise to not take a watermelon lightly.
This was what I wrote Tuesday before Metz started talking:
Instead of guns, Seattle must declare war on gangs
Seattle, which had a pretty bad weekend for violence, still doesn’t hold a candle to the carnage that unfolded in Chicago, and the Jet City must now realize that their war is not against guns, but against gang bangers and other armed miscreants.
If you voted for Obama to prove you are not a racist...
what will you do now to prove you are not stupid?
"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of "liberalism," they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." - Norman Thomas
"They who can who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve niether liberty nor safety." - Ben Franklin
And when gun control fails, the politicians will then blame gangs:
Interesting to note, this was the ONLY mention of guns in Chicago:After a violent Memorial Day weekend in Chicago that left 10 dead amid 42 shootings, police Superintendent Garry McCarthy was asked Tuesday if the NATO summit a week earlier might have left fewer officers on the street.
So far, it's been a bad year on that front. Through Monday, there have been 200 homicides in 2012, compared with 134 over the same period in 2011, an increase of nearly 50 percent, according to Chicago police. Shootings are up 14 percent, the department said.
So what is the problem in Chicago?McCarthy said the Police Department plans to set up its own ballistics unit so it can quickly get information on guns used in multiple crimes and help officers establish patterns.
Apparently Seattle politicians and police are too stupid to learn from others' mistakes. It's politically tricky for Chicago's mayors to invest themselves in fighting violent crime. While violence is one of the major concerns for residents, the street gang culture responsible for most of the shootings in the city has defied solutions for decades. During an interview with the Tribune on his first anniversary in office, the mayor expressed frustration over how difficult it was to fight crime.
When the Supreme Court ruled Monday (read the entire decision here), they did take these violent weekends into account. From the Supreme Court decision:
Chicago Police Department statistics, we are told, reveal that the City's handgun murder rate has actually increased since the ban was enacted and that Chicago residents now face one of the highest murder rates in the country and rates of other violent crimes that exceed the average in comparable cities.
