Seattle has a gang problem, not a gun problem

No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. Thomas Jefferson (1776)

If you go into a store, with a gun, and rob it, you have forfeited your right to not get shot - Joe Deters, Hamilton County (Cincinnati) Prosecutor

I ask sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people except for a few politicians. - George Mason (father of the Bill of Rights and The Virginia Declaration of Rights)

Go back to Roman days. Put all the Gang Members in a Colosseum/Sports Arena, give each one pistol with 6 rounds, and then let them go at it. If the spectators can be protected behind bullet proof glass, sell tickets to the event.

Sure would beat them settling their scores on the Street.

You'll also have to provide other weapons on the ground like clubs with spikes, spears, knives and such because the chances are they would all go through their ammo without actually wounding their intended target.

Only one problem, gangbangers are notoriously bad shots. Only 6 rounds? They'd have to beat each other to death with their empty guns...
Freedom can never be lost, only given away by ignorance, by choice, or at the point of a gun. Here in America we can still choose.

F that. Melee weapons only. No one wants to see a bunch of idiots NOT shoot things. *Real* gunshot wounds (as opposed to hollywood) are typically much less amusing than arterial bleeding.

    THEN AGAIN....

We *could* just repeal all the malum prohibitum laws that generate all the money & power for gangs and watch them just shrivel up & die like unwatered plants.....

    U.S. v. Minker, 350 US 179, at page 187

of their respect for what only appears to be a law, are cunningly coerced into waiving their
    rights, due to ignorance." (Paraphrased)

They'd just all get into politics. That would be the last profitable criminal enterprise left.

I don't want to be sitting in the stands; thugs are bad shooters!
I don't mind watching the OC-Community (tea party 2.0's, who have hijacked the OC-Community) cannibalize itself. I do mind watching OC dragged through the gutter. OC is an exercise of A Right. I choose to not OC; I choose to not own firearms. I choose to leave the OC-Community to it's own self-inflicted injuries, and eventual implosion. Carry on...

Didn't you notice the reference to "bullet proof glass"?

Just like the shields at a Hockey Game only thicker, stronger, and higher.

Hell, just make it Pay Per View and sit at home watching.

If you voted for Obama to prove you are not a racist...
what will you do now to prove you are not stupid?

I'm in full agreement with this. I would love to see all law boiled down to a single volume that can be easily read and understood by a 5th grader.
What sort of man would put a known criminal in charge of a major branch of government? Apart from, say, the average voter.

I believe in freedom, Mr. Lipwig. Not many people do, although they will, of course, protest otherwise. And no practical definition of freedom would be complete without the freedom to take the consequences. Indeed, it is the freedom upon which all the others are based.

The freedom to succeed goes hand in hand with the freedom to fail. - Going Postal, Terry Pratchett

    More 'GUN VIOLENCE'!!!!

Clearly this is an example of 'gun violence' that McMuffin talks about....

Police say a man was pistol-whipped during a carjacking in South Seattle early this morning.Officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of York Road South just before 12:30 a.m. on a report of a stolen Chrysler Sebring, according to Seattle Police Department spokesman Jeff Kappel. The victim was apparently parking his car near his home when he noticed two men parked about 200 feet away in a newer-model Volvo. One of the men approached and demanded his keys, police said. One of the suspects struck the man in the face with a gun, and the victim gave up his car keys, police said. The victim told officers that the man who struck him took off in his car; the second man drove away in the Volvo.Police and Seattle Fire Department medics were called, the victim was treated for a large bump on his head. The victim is described as being a man in his 30s.The suspects and the two vehicles have not been found.Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 911 or Seattle Police.
