Oh man..... I'm screwed.
Thread: Alarming trends on OCDO
In the last few weeks I have noticed several posts that ask questions over and over, with just a few different word changes or ask questions that no one could answer, because nothing so remote has ever happened in the entire history of mankind or they happen every day in legal proceedings and they are handled routinely. Most of these questions are hypothetical. For example, what do I do if XX happens?; What do I do if the cops lie?, What do I do if the judge won't listen to me?, What do I do if the judge won't follow the law? What do I do if the sky falls and hits me in the head? What should I do if I trip over a rock and have my hand near my gun, my finger accidentally goes in the trigger guard and I accidentally pull the trigger and shoot someone? I am beginning to wonder if these are not asked by people who are just pulling our collective chains. I have avoided responding to any of these because I don't think they deserve a response. The answer to all of these questions and any like them is, "If you are worried about such things, stay home." Even then the police "could" make up something about you, judges could make unfair rulings and the sky may come disconnected from its moorings, there are no guarantees in life.
I've decided that I'm not answering a question that has been answered more than twice before, even if a word or two is changed. The OP can go back and read the previous posts for himself (like I do) or one of you more sympathetic and less grumpy members can do it, but just to keep others from saying I'm not helpful, I'm going to answer each of these questions one last time.
What do I do if the cops lie? If you carry a gun, carry a recorder that can record from the time you leave the house 'til you return. Have it turned on and recording. If you forget it, you turn it off for one minute, the battery goes dead or you run out of memory, that will be the time you need it. If you don't or won't do this, you're screwed.
What do I do if the judge won't listen to me? You're screwed. Shut up, wait for a conviction then appeal.
What do I do if the judge won't follow the law? See answer above.
What do I do if the sky falls and hits me in the head? Lay down, you will soon be dead, the world is coming to an end. We are all screwed.
What should I do if I trip over a rock and have my hand near my gun, my finger accidentally goes in the trigger guard and I accidentally pull the trigger and shoot someone? It all depends on the circumstances. Did anyone see it? If no, run like hell and hope you get away. If yes, It depends. Does the witness know you? If no, run like hell and hope you get away. I yes, it depends. Does he know you well enough to lie for you? If yes, run like hell and hope you get away. If any of these question can be answered differently, you're screwed. Immediately attempt to assist them, call 911, call police, sell everything you own or at least put it in another person's name, like O.J. You are going to be sued. Hire a good lawyer (or attorney, whichever you can find to take your case). Did I mention, You're screwed.
Some of our more astute members may have noticed a common thread in my answers. Sometimes, do to unfortunate and/or thoughtless personal choices, the only real answer is, your screwed, or put better, you've screwed yourself.
Carrying a gun, either OC or CC, is serious business and should not be done by the unprepared, the timid or the paranoid.
Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.
"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen."
Oh man..... I'm screwed.
It would probably help if the search feature weren't so blasted impossible to use.
Why do I have to do an advanced search every time? There's a search text box at the top right corner with a search button. But what does the button do? It takes you to the advanced search page. It's useless.
And then you get to advanced search, and hit "search now" again because you have no interest in modifying your search. But oh wait, you forgot to put in the ridiculous image verification. So you type in the ridiculous string of characters to do a simple search and hit "search now" again. This time you get an error that says "Please add more constraints to your search. Searches that return all or most of the database are a bad idea." You look at your search text box and it's been erased! So you type your search phrase back in, go back to image verification and type what you think the jumbled text might say and hit "search now" again. Nope, that "n" was probably just an "r" that got pushed up too close to the character next to it. Now you've got yet another image verification text and it's completely unintelligible. You refresh the image a couple times and finally get something that's legible.
And voila! The search goes through. You've already spent 5 minutes fighting with the search function and now you have 10 pages of results because your search phrase was too vague. Or it was too detailed and you get nothing. To do another search you're going to have to go back and whittle things down and then deal with the image verification again.
At this point you're thinking you're so fed up with the search function that you say, "the hell with this, I'll just make a thread about it. I should have done that in the first place and saved myself some time."
This is the only forum I've ever seen where the search button at the top right doesn't work AND you have to do an image verification before you can do a search. So, this "alarming" thread trend doesn't seem so alarming now does it?
edit: and why is this in the Kentucky forum?!

Don't really see it as that big of a deal, everybody asks questions differently and understand the answers differently.
Is this the appropriate time to tell everyone posting on this thread that's not from KY to gtfo? Then we'll have the obligatory rule posting or moderator stating that everyone is free to post on any board.
But Gutshot, what if the sky falls and a piece hits me and it makes me fall and my finger lands on the trigger of a rig wired up to five guns that all fire and kill someone with a police officer I know being one and another one I dont know sees it all!? D: HELP!

Well, I only asked because the thread title says alarming trends on "OCDO" not "the Kentucky boards."
I've encountered a few threads that I'd generally place in this category as Gutshot had mentioned but I've never encountered those specific queries before. *LOL* I have also encountered a few interloper's in the Kentucky forum here but I don't really take any offense to them or their general posts. Granted there are a few that can get slightly annoying but I've learned to just overlook them and their commentary. Likewise, I've encountered members that are not from the Commonwealth and have some beneficial information to share.
In the end, we have to learn to take in what is useful and helpful and overlook the worthless.

Got SIG? MOLON LABE
I pm'd the Admin about the search function. As always he was very helpful and said he thinks he can back off on it. I also learned why we have to do captcha every time we search, apparently IP addresses from china was spamming the search. This makes it seem more reasonable that we have to do this.
No man alive can beat me in a fair fight: It's not fair to chase a man down and beat him.
Just make some outlandish claim or denial and someone else will do your search for you. Pissed off folks are doggedly persistent.
