Has anyone in WA been booted from a Winco store for OC?

See my thread under Nevada.

TBG

Not in the Tri Cities area. I spoke with one of the store managers, and while there are rules for employees (they are not allowed to carry any kind of weapon), they have no rules against customers. Their lost prevention was there at the time, and talked about a few people carrying in the stores, and that it was perfectly legal and fine. Kudos for letting the customers carry, too bad they restrict their employees.

I've carried in the North Spokane Winco numerous times and never had trouble from employees. The produce guys and meat counter guys have both struck up positive conversations, and once a fellow customer struck up a negative conversation (haha), but I've never been asked to cover up or leave.

Yes, we abide by all laws of the state the store resides in.

We are working on a statement, as of now, I don't have one to give.

Cathy, You say that you abide by all laws of the store you reside in.
Did you possibly mean that you abide by all state laws of the state that the store resides in? Is there a policy posted on your website or a copy of it that I can get. Store policies are updated on friendorfoe.us, and some other websites that support where we discuss our 2nd Amendment as written in our US Constitution. There are many Americans who will only support stores that support Americans. There are many websites, NRA.org, Opencarry.org, USConcealedcarry.com, the Washington arms, forum.gundigestmagazine.com, Handgunlaw.us, keepandbeararms.com, pinkpistols.org/antigun.html, nwcdl.org, oathkeepers.org/oath, seattleguns.net, thehighroad.us, youcancarry.com, and armedcitizensnetwork.org to name a few, where it is discussed who to patronize and who not to. friendorfoe.us had Winco in Federal Way, was blacklisted because a manager told someone who was openly carrying to cover up and he did not have his CPL on him, so when he refused he was asked to leave, you may have been removed from the anti business list for now. A copy of Winco's policy would really be helpful. Thank you Cathy.

Washington State is an Open Carry state RCW 9.41.270. There is no Id or CPL required. It is against the law to carry a firearm concealed without a Concealed Pistol License. If I am openly carrying in Winco Foods and do not have my CPL, and one of your management team ask's me to cover my weapon, they are asking me to commit a crime. Is it common policy at Winco Foods, to ask people to break the law?

I think you misunderstood what I said, I said we would prefer you to leave the gun in the car. I did not, in any way, say you are required to, we abide by Washington state laws. If you wear your gun inside and it makes our other customers uncomfortable, our management team may ask you to cover the weapon. We are hoping that you will work with our management team if this occurs and cover the weapon. We are people who want to make all our customers comfortable when shopping.

If I am asked to leave my firearm in my car before entering the store, what will Winco Foods do to ensure my family and my safety while shopping in your store. Will you have an armed security guard escorting us through your store to ensure and gauranty our safety? Wal-Mart abides by Washington state law, and by no means will forsake someone's ability to carry and protect themselves for someone else's insecure feelings. I would rather shop at Winco Foods but I will not unprotect myself and my family to save
$10.00 on groceries. Wal-Mart believes in the United States Constitution and believes in the 2nd Amendment. They follow whatever state law is. If I am asked to do unarm myself or leave Winco while shopping there, I will be sure to pass this on to as many of the other 200,000+ CPL holders in Washington state as well. I am sure some will be happy to oblige.

[SUB]XXXXXXXXXX[/SUB]@aol.com,

Thank you for using our new online feedback page.

"CPL", concealed pistol license? WinCo resides in Washington and other states which have open carry laws. We respect your right to carry.
However, we service many people in our stores and some do not feel comfortable shopping with a person who has a visible weapon and in that case we may ask you to cover it or leave it in the car before you enter the store. We respect your rights but we also hope you will work with us when asked. WinCo stores are private property.

We have a responsibility to you to allow you to carry, but we also have a responsibility to others who shop in our stores and do not feel comfortable. We hope you will appreciate our side of the process and be willing to work with us if you shop in our stores.

Never.

Even had a cashier apologize for being hassled by other customers who didn't know the law and were very vocal about being 'uncomfortable'

This seems to be the same gal I had communicated with via email with Winco. Her attitude and nonsensical answers is what made me write directly to the President/CEO. I'm wondering if it is a real person or just the name that all of their reps use when answering emails??

Thanks for the update.

I know huh, talk about manipulation and coercion, from now on... I nominate jbone to write all Correspondences to the companies when there is a question dealing with their policies. Anyone second the motion?

Response from Winco.

I just received a phone call from Mike Read, Public Relations Representative of Winco foods. He let me know that they have had lots of contact about this issue and have come to the conclusion that we are welcome in their stores open carry. He told me that they really didn't like it but would not fight it. He said as a private property they have the right to prohibit firearms but that they would not.
