OT - Do you suppose it could come to this here in America...?

Aussie swimmers told to take down gun photos

SYDNEY (AP) Olympic swimmers Nick D'Arcy and Kenrick Monk have been directed by Swimming Australia to remove photos of themselves posing with guns from their social media sites.
The photo of Monk holding two pump-action shotguns and standing beside D'Arcy, who had a pistol in each hand, in a U.S gun shop spread quickly in social and traditional media Thursday, with Sydney Daily Telegraph taking to Twitter to ask: "Are you offended by this photograph of Nick D'Arcy and Kenrick Monk in a US gun shop?"......

It already has! There has been many instances of teenagers getting in trouble with school systems for posting pictures of themselves holding guns.

There was a friend of my down in Vantucky that had posed with an Uzi or Mac10 at another friends of ours in ID. She was wearing a non-PC shirt at the time. She posted the pictures on her Myspace or Facebook account. She also happened to be a bank teller at the time. She was visited by the FBI. Immediately after she pulled the pictures. There is no true freedom of speech in this country anymore. Anytime someone is offended at what someone says they can send the cops or feds after the person and have them arrested for "hate speech" or some such thing.

I seem to recall a story of a student who got into trouble at school for doing what the teacher told him to do: Draw a picture of a family member at work. So he drew a picture of his older brother, whom he was very proud of. A U.S. Marine, complete with rifle. The school administration freaked out completely, as if the kid had brought a real M-16 to school.

I can't find the URL, unfortunately.

It was precisely for these situations the term "bonehead" was invented.
The First protects the Second, and the Second protects the First. Together, they protect the rest of our Bill of Rights and our United States Constitution, and help We the People protect ourselves in the spirit of our Declaration of Independence.
