The Wisconsin Council of Churches (WCC) is a community of Christian denominations that covenant to engage in a common ministry focused on church unity, peacemaking, social and economic justice for Wisconsin’s most vulnerable residents, and revitalizing congregations.

The Council encompasses 14 denominations with approximately 2,000 congregations and over one million church members. Join with us as we pray and work together for the unity and renewal of the church and the healing and reconciliation of the world.

Our visiting pastor's homily was on the parable of the mustard seed as a blessed weed as he segued to WCC's 'civility' (/scare quotes). I try to to make sure that my pastor knows that I listen to sermon and homily carefully, critically and with a discerning ear. I commented to the visiting pastor with three blessed weeds that he did not mention, that are phragmites (the very best roofing), radioactive contamination (defined with "unwanted presence" as he did weeds) and we, The Bitter Clingers, that the Occupier disparaged for "clinging to their guns and Bibles.

It was amusing that today's sermon on the parable of the mustard seed as a Blessed Weed segued to WCOC's snarky demand for civility, including Concealed Carry Information for Congregations, in the aftermath of the generally failed recall elections. The Bitter Clingers, denigrated by the Occupier @ White House for clinging to their guns and Bibles, are Blessed Weeds.

If you will look to their Season of Civility bull sans bulla Statement Signatories, you will see anti-Christians, deists and arguably agnostics/atheists. Christ's grace is not in their hearts, nor collectively. WiCoCk are simple primitive left progs.

why did Peter carry a sword? because his .45 kept falling out of his robe at inopportune moments.

Someone needs to point to the WCC Gospel of John Ch3 Verses 1-20. That is their first mission. Then they need to be pointed to Matthew Ch26 verse 11 the first part. That is their second mission. Regenerate the heart and feed the poor and take care of the homeless is the mission of the church. Our churches have become preachers of liberation theology aka how to grow government and redistribute wealth.

I was teaching a C.C. class a few weeks ago and a student shared this with me.

The pastor of his church began giving money to who he thought was “down on his luck” man, wife and two kids. After giving this family about $600 over the course of five or so days the man came back to the church for more and when he was denied he became violent. My student, a cop, promptly escorted him out and called the cops. The cops found his car down the road at a motel known for drug trafficking.
Because the pastor of this church hands out money to people without safety precautions he has put himself, the church employees, and his congregation at risk.

i.e. when free money is involved word travels fast.

Two armed people in the first minutes is better than 1000 armed men an hour later.

Thank you. We are, presumably, the choir. Will you tell that story to the WiCoC please.

Citations of scripture will not likely be a good argument. They'll just fall back to some other religious tradition and, in the end, cite Marx and Engles. The liberation theology was an interesting observation, particularly considering the Occupier @WH and his background.

You got that right brother! Collective salvation is his favorite. I don't want to make this a theological conversation, but in the name of 'peace' these churches may exert an influence on our right to keep and bear arms in the future if they we don't point out that they have Biblically strayed from the churche's main goal. The problem with the druggie getting $600 from the church is another mistake first by not knowing the guy's background and second as a rule I never give money to anyone off the streets, only people I know. I usually buy homeless people food and point them to Catholic Charities, Salvation army or the Dorothy Day house. I promise:D to end that discussion here.:D

seems to me i remember a Bible story, where a crowd gathered, and were hungry, and they borrowed someone's lunch, and fed the crowd, then collected baskets of fish, bread, and ammunition, leftovers afterwards. But i am sure this story is open to interpretation.

Over 230 murders on church property since 1999:

http://www.safeatchurch.org/home.html

The CoC is famously anti-gun, yet pro-government. The irony of government killing many orders of magnitude more innocent people than criminals ever did, seems lost on them.

Speaking of irony... I have a cousin who is now a retired pastor, but at one time he served in London on the executive board of the World Council of Churches. My love of collecting WWI-WWII era milsurps started with the Lee-Enfield he gave to my dad. He was himself an active collector, and lives just a block from the Tulsa fairgrounds, where the Wanenmacher Gun Show, the world's largest, takes place. He's invited me to stay with him if I ever make it there for the show, and is interested in going back himself.
