I decided to run up to Beloit for a little OC dinner before the USPSA practice in Rockford tonight. I'm sitting here and they have several "weapons" related sites blocked through their ISP. This is weird because Culvers has always been OC friendly in the past. At least OC.org isn't blocked!

Could also have something to do with the wifi provider. Most businesses contract 3rd party companies to deal with wifi, so they are protected from user abuse (illegal downloads, porn, piracy, etc.) Google is a large partner in commercially provided wifi, and they recently decided to abolish weapons in the Shopping section.

Most likely not the business owners thoughts

Yeah, I think it was an ISP thing. I didn't have the time to talk to the manager.

Once you access the wifi and open your browser, read the bottom of the acceptance screen.

Also, something I just thought of. If it is an access point owned by the city (city hall, public library, school, etc) then its definitely firewall issue. Most of them block websites based off of search words. You can research the Desert Eagle on Wikipedia, but they will block sales sites

Most of these places use canned filters, and the managers don't really have a clue how to configure it... I've been to one where the filter blocked Gmail... Told the manager, and he said something along the lines of "yeah, I we just got this, and we haven't had the computer guys fix it yet".
