Depending on where you go in California, you might be better off being deployed to Kabul!

Of all the places where you aren't able to carry your sidearm, loaded for your personal protection,
California ain't the first to come to mind as a terrific location to do that.

Every once in a while I like to embrace the Naked Warrior concept. LA wouldn't be where'd I'd be inclined to try though. Head on a swivel man.

Lol! I concur. I briefly visited one of the less desirable neighborhoods and received some penetrating stares, but if you're staying with family, it's not like criminals are kicking in your doors every evening. My Aunt lived in a seedy area for more than 30 years, and she was never once assaulted, burglarized, or robbed.
