A guy at work told me that Ohio's House passed a reciprocity law that allows carry by anybody from another state with a license. He said it still had to pass their Senate. Does anybody know anything about this? Also, will this just be CC, or CC and OC?

HB 495.

HB495 makes three changes to current law:

Changes to automatically honor other states licenses, similar to a driver's license
Eliminates the "demonstrated competency" requirement for 2nd and future CHL renewals, making CHL training similar to a hunting license
Fixes the definition of a "loaded gun" to match the commonly accepted definition

A positive effect for Open Carriers (those without a CHL) would be that they wouldn't have to unload their magazines prior to entering their motor vehicles.

No really I knew that Michigan and Ohio had a agreement. I see the new Ohio law would make it with out the agreement of each states that seems like a really good Idea.

Still needs to be passed by the Senate and signed by the Gov.

The change will allow reciprocity with other states IF they allow reciprocity with Ohio without a written agreement.

If the other state still requires a written agreement, but does not have one with Ohio, we won't recognize their permits.

I'm from Pa. I heard that Pa. doesn't reciprocate with Ohio because Ohio doesn't honor our licence. I also heard Ohio doesn't honor ours because we don't need the class to get a licence. It would be good if both states would honor each others. I have a lot of relatives in Ohio and it would be good to be able to go back and forth from Pa. and Ohio with no problem.
