Nevada has an open season on Jack Rabbit any legal weapon. So it is always hunting season in Nevada.

NDOW Nevada Division of Wildlife has an awesome web page. All you need to know on hunting, fishing and trapping.

Plus if you check the Nfs regs they welcome shooting.

Grapeshot, that PDF says that there is an exception if you have a carry permit, and seems to say that you can carry in a national forest.

The OP is about open carry. That then goes to OCing with a permit. Apply as indicated to your state laws.

I know here in Virginia you cannot open carry in a National Forest unless it is for lawful hunting. Unfortunate, but that is the way it is. Need a permit/license to carry for defensive purposes.

The easiest way around that kind of stupid law (in Va.) is buy a hunting license and research what vermin species is in season 365/yr.

Last summer I was up at mount Charleston camping. OCed in the campground and in the upper lodge. No one said a word.

As did I also, and I even spoke with a USFS ranger as well, while I was O/C, at Charleston aka Spring Mountains National Rec Area.

I don't know what kind of cite that is, but it not a law. I do realize it is from a .gov federal source, but it contains numerous errors for many states, including ours. For example, it is perfectly legal to hunt on Sundays in NV. Also, despite what that document says, it is illegal in this state to carry a firearm while bow hunting during archery-only season.

I am inclined to completely disregard anything that summary says until shown an actual law that supports it.
