Thank you all for coming to this years Open Carry BB-Q at my house. Thanks all for helping out and making this a great event. You can see this is a step up from willow lake.Instead we moved Willow Lake to my backyard in Browns point.Beautiful weather spectacular views and great friends. My Daughter Laurie from Ca. and her husband Steve were there. Jeff and Michelle from Spokane, and Steve from Vancouver who took these great shots. The prize this year was an American Classic Commander .45 with carry holster, and box of ammo. This year it was won by G20 ,Jeff Golifur.after I had his little girl draw this ticket. Was hilarious.Anyway thanks all for making a great day.

Looks like a great time. I must have missed a post or something?

Btw, that's a nice new place you have, nice backyard. For sure a step up from the last.

It started out being open to the public but appears to have gone to personal invite only.

No point in having Bluetooth when you didn't bring your phone with you.

My daughter was volunteered to play Vanna White, I told her make sure to pick Daddy's ticket, everyone laughed, but she knew I wasn't joking. She picked Daddy's ticket out of a bag, and she was handsomely-rewarded with an overindulgence of ice cream. I'm failing to see the problem here!

Now if I could only somehow let Squeak know that "I won a gun..." Any ideas? Haha

    Oops !

I watched for the announcement for this event, but did not see it. I attended last year and wanted to attend this year. Disappointed.

How did I miss it? (I usually browse without logging on. Do I need to log on to see some announcements?)

Um, yeah, been wondering when this was, saw nothing about it. Been to 2-3 other years, was looking forward to it. What happened?

I was going to let the thread die out but I feel that some things need to be said.
First off, my comments are not directed to any one but as a group. Some things may not be facts but my personal observation.
I was very impressed the first time I went to Willow Lake. Especially the fact that Jim put out a few THOUSAND dollars to put it on. A lot of the food was donated but many other thinks were not. A few hung around and helped clean and others needed to go; no problem with that. Then a few pissed, moaned, groaned, and pouted as to how the function was put on, as it was in progress and afterword. All this is in the past.
Now this year was different. You may want to think about a few thinks that go on behind the scenes.
    Who is putting this on?
    Where will it be held?
How many will the facility acommodate?
    Date & time?
    Food, how much?
There is more that could be said, but I think you get the idea.
Thanks for the good time, Jim. My family and I enjoyed ourselves!

While I can understand the effort, cost, prizes and lack of acknowledgement can be a discouragement, I too would have liked to see this stay a publicly invited event. I also understand this was held at his house, so privacy may have been a factor here as well.

With that said, that does not mean one could not hold there own BBQ. Deros has done quite a bit for this community, so I am not going to get all hurt about not being invited to a private event. I have held private events myself. Its just how it is. Personally I may not have associated this event with the previous Willows Lake BBQ due to the public confusion, but that's just me.

The part that confused me mainly was the opening sentence.
Thank you all for coming to this years Open Carry BB-Q at my house.
This actually made me think I missed a post somewhere, the way it was addressed to 'you all' made me believe 'you all' were invited. Hints the confusion in my original post. Easily seen to be a misunderstanding of the intended audience.

I am glad everyone that did go had a good time and I hope to see you all at a future event.

Always has been by personal invite, never was open to the public. Everyone that was on OCDO or that lived at Willow Lake was invited but not the general public.

Anyone is welcome to have an OC event that is open to the public all you have to do is pay for it, provide the place, make all the arrangement's, set up, clean up and listen to the complaints.
