Disturbing...not sure what to think/feel about this aspect of it all...

"Prior to the shooting, a Washington State trooper was conducting a traffic stop less than a half-block from the home. The trooper noticed Billings stumbling down the sidewalk and mumbling incoherently. The trooper, who was concerned the man was a danger to himself, called dispatch to ask for officers to check on the man."

on the one hand you have the usual anti-cop /anti-Zimmerman bunch who, if this man were stopped, would be shouting "what's their RAS??????" -Yet, because they didnt...the guy ends up busting into some other fellow's bedroom in the middle of the night, and ends up getting blasted..

On the other hand- a good one to point out to anti-2a folks, when they ask idiotic questions like "why do you need/carry(insert your choice here) a gun??" :banghead: :banghead: -Well, DUH, this is a perfectly good example, right here- You can bit conked out in your home, doors locked, with cops half-a block away...and what good would the cops/were the cops, able to be?

Sorry I can't get on board with blaming the cops. Stumbling, nor mumbling are cause for a detention. Although the cop certainly could have asked the guy if he was alright.

You're right, the cops did nothing wrong by not stopping him.

It would have a been a common courtesy, by any citizen, though to ask him if he was alright and needed help.
