#3 Why in the world do we still have the outdated electoral college system when it is so outdated? If I vote for one person and the other person up for election wins 50.1% of the vote in my state, they automatically win 100% of the vote from my state even though I didn't vote for them... this caused a big backlash not to long ago with the most recent Bush election... he lost the popular vote but somehow managed to win anyway...

I have more but I'm not gonna get into it... these are just examples of how the people in control are going to stay in control as long as money is involved.

I agree with all three points, Grim. The rationale for the Electoral College was established in 1804 under the premise that timely communication of information regarding candidates between the 13 states was difficult since there was nothing similar to the telegraph system, or even the Pony Express at that time. Without timely and sufficient information, it was feared that some voters would be uninformed and vote out of ignorance (today we call them liberal Socialist-"Progressives", or Democrats), making poor choices. Therefore, the original idea was for the most knowledgeable and informed individuals from each State to select the president based solely upon merit and without regard to State of origin or political party. Those times are long passed, the reasoning is now invalid, and there is no longer any justification for an Electoral College... except to thwart the voice of the people. :uhoh: Pax...

"Preppers" is the name for people who store away a little extra food, ammo, guns, medical supplies, water, etc. in the event an emergency arises such as a nuclear accident, bio/chemical situation, economical collapse, etc. All the way down to a three day snowstorm. We've all "Prepped" some. You carry a jack in your car. There are different levels to prepping, from a first aid kit in ones car to a bunker in the hills. Anyway, a lot of people don't prepare and don't learn anything about self reliance. In the event of an emergency, A percentage of them will just take what they can by force, from the people who have food, water, shelter and supplies. Those people are referred to as "Zombies".

P.S. Here is a link to "Prepping" terms and acronyms. "Zombie" of course being at the end.

This is a good read: "Lessons from Katrina" you'll find it if you scroll down the left handed side of the link. Something to think about.

P.S.S. Okay, just one more link. There's a whole wealth of "Zombie" stuff out there. This one is from the CDC (Center for Disease Control)

I happen to enjoy reading Cracked. Although they do have a history of exaggerating stories.

It's a comedy site, not a science journal. What do you expect? But to be fair, they are more reliable than most mainstream journalists.

Kay: We're gonna check the hot sheets.
[Kay pulls up to a newsstand and buys a pile of supermarket tabloids]
Jay: THESE are the hot sheets?
Kay: Best investigative reporting on the planet. But go ahead, read the New York Times if you want. They get lucky sometimes.

stay safe.

So I had an "interesting" encounter with a saleswoman at Dick's Sporting Goods in Lynnhaven mall today. I was OCing, and was out with my father shopping for a new gun safe. We were discussing how quickly you could open the combination lock if the "zombies" came bursting through your door. She looked at us and stated very seriously, "there are no such thing as zombies." Obviously I know this to be *true*, but does anyone else "joke" about a "zombie" invasion?

I ran into a fellow at the Fredericksburg Gun Show this weekend who was ranting that John Wilkes Booth would rise again. Makes me think he thinks that zombies DO still exist and will return from their graves. LOL.

The electoral college is what keeps California, and New York from controlling the country. Without the electoral college you would have pure democracy, in other words the more populace states would be all that would matter, and the needs of the less populated states would be ignored, because they would not matter, the electoral college system gives the less populace states the combined ability to match the populated states, in other words pure democracy is 2 wolves, and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner, the electoral college forces them to compromise, because the two wolves get one vote together, and the sheep gets one vote. Otherwise states like California, New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Hawaii, Connecticut, etc. would always outvote the entire rest of the country combined. Tyranny of the majority. These populace states are all liberal of course, why do you think the left want to get rid of the electoral college?

The Zombie Apocolypse is coming in one shape or another.

The g/f and I joke about it all of the time and have a "plan" (even though we are half joking about it.) for what we'll do in the event that is DOES happen. Being from Texas and living in MD, I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't survive the Z.A. due to the lack of firearm availability here. We WILL be making a Bee-Line straight for Texas though once it starts! We have an arsenal at my parent's house.

I'm also going to start working on my own "Bug-Out Vehicle". Since my F-350 needs a good bit of work, I'll be slowly turning it into a long-range, any terrain vehicle able to get me from MD to TX w/out stopping for fuel. That's right at 1500 miles of driving distance, so at least 175 gallons of Diesel capacity (estimating 10mpg due to traffic/offroading/idle time/etc). GUNS GUNS and LOTS of ammo onboard and bullit-proof reliability is what it's going to take to build it. Already equiped with a diesel engine and manual trans and 4WD, I should be pretty good to go!!!

The end is coming, and it's us "Preppers" that will survive.
