We are now running on a new, and hopefully much-improved, server. In addition we are also on new forum software. Any move entails a lot of technical details and I suspect we will encounter a few issues as the new server goes live. Please be patient with us. Interesting idea, but it seems a little sketchy to me...
Pay the $200 tax and go for it. The question is, are you willing to pay that tax every five (being geneous) shots? Those oil filters are sealed units - you cannot just drop in a new element while retaining the outer parts.

The registered part is the adtapter not the filter.

They also make another adapter that does not require a BATF fee ... of course you would not know it needs one until you try it...
