Police: Bar patron shot Plymouth homicide suspect
BY BOB KALINOWSKI (STAFF WRITER)
Published: September 11, 2012

Mark Moran / the citizens' voice A woman steps into Bonnie's Food and Spirits at 133 E. Main St. in Plymouth on Monday. A shootout broke out at the bar early Sunday morning and spilled onto the street.
An armed patron stopped a gunman's shooting rampage early Sunday outside a Plymouth bar, shooting the suspect multiple times on East Main Street after he fatally shot one man and critically wounded another, arrest papers revealed.
Investigators said the suspect, William J. Allabaugh, 25, shot a man in the head inside Bonnie's Food and Spirits just before 2 a.m., then fatally shot another customer outside the 133 E. Main St. pub.
When Allabaugh pointed his semi-automatic pistol at another patron, the man, Mark Ktytor, pulled his own gun and fired multiple rounds at Allabaugh, according to arrest papers. The shots dropped Allabaugh to the ground and left him with critical injuries, police said.
Police said they plan to charge Allabaugh, of 430 E. Main St., Plymouth, with criminal homicide and attempted homicide when he recovers. He remained in critical condition Monday night at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township, authorities said.
Ktytor, no age given, of Vine Street, Plymouth, has a concealed weapons permit to legally carry a gun and isn't expected to face charges, officials said.
"At this point, there's nothing to indicate he acted inappropriately," Luzerne County District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis said. "The only charges being filed are the charges you see - at this point in time."
Efforts to reach Ktytor were unsuccessful Monday. His girlfriend, Kristi Brown, who was with him at the bar, said the two would not comment and directed questions to police.
The district attorney and police noted there is no state law against carrying a firearm in a bar if someone possesses a valid concealed weapons permit. It was not immediately clear if Allabaugh has a gun permit.
Arrest papers filed by state and Plymouth police indicate the altercation in the bar started after Allabaugh was asked to leave because customers complained he may be armed with a gun. Police said Allabaugh had also been making racial and anti-gay slurs.
Witnesses told police Allabaugh, who denied he had a gun, became "upset" while being booted from the bar. Allabaugh then pulled a gun and shot bar patron Stephen Hollman, 29, in the head, arrest papers say.
Hollman, of East Main Street, Plymouth, remained in critical condition Monday night in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, police said.
After the initial shot inside the bar, police said the incident spilled outside and witnesses heard more shots fired.
Police said Scott Luzetsky, 39, of Roosevelt Street, Edwardsville, was found fatally shot on East Main Street. An autopsy revealed he died of multiple gunshot wounds, the county coroner's office said.
Jim Jordan, a bouncer at the nearby Eagle Club, said Luzetsky collapsed on the sidewalk outside the private club at 145 E. Main St. He said he spotted Luzetsky in a pool of blood moments after a terrified woman pounded on the door to be let inside to escape the shooting.
"I tried to administer first aid, but he was dead," Jordan said.
Ktytor, who was in the bar when the shooting erupted, told police he and bar manager Bob Wallace ducked behind a parked car upon hearing the gunshots outside. They then saw Allabaugh walking toward them, and hid behind more parked cars. After seeing that Luzetsky was laying motionless, Ktytor said they saw Allabaugh continue to walk toward them, according to arrest papers.
Allabaugh was carrying a black semi-automatic handgun, Ktytor said, according to arrest papers.
Ktytor said Allabaugh then pointed the gun at him, police said.
Ktytor said he then unholstered his gun and fired four shots at Allabaugh, hitting him several times, according to arrest papers.
Allabaugh dropped to the ground, got up to walk briefly, then collapsed again, Ktytor said.
Ktytor said he retreated across the street, took cover behind a tree and called 911 to tell police what happened.
Plymouth police found Allabaugh unresponsive and laying on East Main Street.
Officers found an ammunition clip in his pants pocket and a gun holster on the right side of his pants pocket, police said. A black handgun was located on the ground about 50 feet away, police said. Police said the ammunition found in Allabaugh's magazine clip matched the spent shell casings found at the scene.
Allabaugh's brother, Jared, told police he was in the bar with his brother, but was asked to leave for not paying his beer bill. However, William Allabaugh and another friend remained, he said.
Jared Allabaugh said he knows his brother "always" carries a gun and noted he showed him his concealed weapons permit earlier in the evening. He said his brother was a U.S. Air Force veteran and has been unemployed since his discharge last year.
William Allabaugh, who turned 25 on Friday, has no known criminal history, authorities said.

Nothing to indicate he acted inappropriateliy? No charges being filed at this point in time?

What is wrong with this witch? This man saved lives and put his own life in danger to do so! This woman needs to wake the hell up! Of course he didn't act inappropriately -- he acted heroically!

Sounds like a good case of self-defense. Glad the man was able to protect himself and others.
