DESPP now brandishing when a FOIA requestor shows up

Hi ! Went to DESPP HQ today. Had my PC with me and they said they want to search the laptop. I declined a search of course. Then they asked if I brought a copier with me. I did, it was in my car, so I went to get it. When I was coming back to enter the bldg a DESPP cop said "put the box down!" while holding his handle of his gun and pointing at me ... so I just turned around and left .. the cop did not follow.

    They are nuts!

Do it again, but with something fragile or some loose toner in the box. Drop it and let them clean up the mess.

So now you have to supply your own copier to get copies of documents from a state agency?

Its a multifunctional - I scan plus if I want hard copies, its 1/4 the price (they demand 25-50 cents a page) ..

Well DESPP certainly got themselves into a mess ... I filed a motion for an emergency order from the FIC ... here's a small section of a 8 page filing:

The actions of 13 SEP 12 by the respondent are not the actions of what should be the actions of a Connecticut government agency; they are the actions of fascism. We have seen these types of activities before: in Nazi Germany in the 1930’s, in our own country during the McCarthy era and in the interment of Japanese Americans during WWII, in Louisiana during hurricane Katrina, during the recent “Fast and Furious” program of the federal government, and there are others. The FIC should recognize, identify, and publicly admonish state agencies that behave in such a manner. If not, the FIC is condoning and supporting such activities....

The FIC cannot physically escort the complainant to inspect records but the FIC has the authority to affect the safety of a complainant, a FOIA requestor. Eliminating the need for a complainant to even need to enter into a hostile and dangerous environment through an order to furnish the records free of charge is a reasonable path to assure compliance with the FOIA act, the mission of the FIC. The complainant seeks such an order through the filings of these pleadings. Alternately, the FIC should place this case on the earliest FIC calendar date available for a FIC hearing.

Is the pen mightier than the sword? We'll find out...I have several double barrels ...and one is a pen ...I could not resist the inevitability of bringing Nazi comparisons into the mix .. after all, its inevitable
