I don't remember this, but am I able to carry at the track for the truck race on the 29th?

It is private property, so legally yes.

I'm pretty damn sure they won't want you to, though, and you would be trespassed if they knew about it.

I've been to several NASCAR races there, and there has been no security to worry about, or to protect you for that matter.

On the few occasions I have been there, there were metal detectors in use.

Yeah, disclaimer, I've not been there in several years.

for the last two years, I've gone to the NASCAR race and the NHRA drag races. Every time I went, I concealed. They post signage prohibiting "weapons," however their search was limited to Backpacks, Purses and coolers and was a look-see, they didn't poke around inside. There were no pat downs and no metal detectors used at any of the events.

I just remember that at the race back in March, I wasn't subject to any searches or detectors. I honestly think LVMPD wouldn't have an issue if they saw me. But I figured check around with you guys first to prevent me from doing something stupid.

I work part time at the LVMS and work every large event. They have a no firearm policy. They do not have metal detectors at the track however, I have never seen them use them there is a possibility they could use the handheld ones. We did have a customer that was CCing at a Drag Race last year and let his shirt lift and his firearm was seen. He soon had some visitors and was politely informed of the no firearm policy and asked to secure it in his car. He compiled, was escorted to his car locked it up, and all was good. I will be there during the truck races forcing me to miss the OC picnic. O well.

Only time I've seen metal detectors in use (wand or gate) was at EDC. Plenty of people going in there who assumed "the position" with their hands behind their head and fingers interlaced like that's a regular weekend occurrence. I've been to truck races, regular NASCAR and NHRA races, the drift races, dirt track and oval races.

I ******* hate EDC. 100,000 ****** bag, drop out, meth snorting, "E" rolling, punk-ass kids. The one time I wouldn't shed a tear over a terrorist bombing.

Do not hold back, really, go-ahead and say how you really think. Hope you take that as a little humor.
I do agree nothing good comes out of the EDC. The first year they started talking about having the event several city officials were not happy about it coming, some did not want it. After tallying up money, they now say what a great event. I will say this it is a lot harder to deal with a drunken race fan than a stoned EDC fan.

The problem is, these kids aren't just smoking weed. If that was all they were doing they would probably be a manageable crowd. I don't know what you do for a living, but I work swing shift as a dealer on the strip and I see exactly what personality these kids have. These kids are taking drugs that make them unpredictable, obnoxious and sometimes dangerous, on top of being part of a generation that doesn't have any concept of personal responsibility, thinks their problems are always someone else's fault and that the rules don't apply to them, they couldn't read the sign that said toilet or add 7+7+7 and come up with 21. This demographic is the product of the "no child left behind" experiment and if things don't change 180 degrees in this country they will be our future and our downfall.

I worked all three night last and this year 12 hour plus. Not auguring with the damage and dangers that is done by the said drugs they use just saying they are actually easer for the most part to manage than some of the drunken NASCAR fans. Yep, it is indeed a terrible thought, that some of them will end up being part of our future government decision making process.

Besides working part time every large event at the track with crowds of hundreds of thousands for the past 10 years, I have been employed at what I call my real Job for over 38 years. Just like you, my boss also still does not know what I do for a living.

I'm glad we both have the same perspective as we see the nature of the crowd. I deal with this bunch on a routine basis just on a smaller scale. Every weekend we constantly have to put up with the nightclub crowd and it really takes a toll on me to put up duchebaggary that this bunch has mastered. To me, Friday and Saturday nights are like the regular season and EDC is the world series. Time to start scheduling vacation time during that week of June.

I also think the NASCAR race day crowd is really not that dissimilar than any mob where copious amounts of alcohol is consumed. Doesn't matter the demographic, Someone is going to be an angry drunk who got bumped or looked at the wrong way and you know how the rest goes. The EDC crowd on the other hand, while not looking for trouble, has no idea the impact their obnoxiousness has on those of us who just want to make it through our day without a headache.

    Cool

I have been to the last 8 or 9 NASCAR races at LVMS and haven't noticed to much trouble, but I also don't look for trouble. I haven't carried into the races (don't have a NV CC permit). I think this is another excuse I can add to the list of reasons I should get a NV CC permit sooner than later. I have a Utah, Idaho, and Oregon permit...more money.

Do you think they will use wands this weekend at NASCAR?

Are you going this weekend? I want to conceal, but I also don't want any issues at the gate.

They always do. I've worked security there numerous times since posting the original question.

Sorry for not seeing this earlier. I have never seen them use metal detector wands. I am in and out of the gates several times during the events. They did not use them last weekend. LVMS does have a no guns allowed policy. However just like most with the same policy their method they use only achieve stopping most legal carried guns while allowing illegal guns in. Nothing says you cannot turn around with a statement "O" crap forgot to lock the car and head back to the vehicle if you see detectors.
