OC today in Portland between 1 and 8pm

Bringing the wife to work on st. John street today and thought I would stay in Portland while she is working to save gas. Planning on just walking around OC'ing. If anyone is in the area that wants to meet up let me know I'm going to have time to burn.

Will do. I'll try to record if anything happens, but I doubt anything will.

    Never know in Portland

Was a memo ever released to the Portland PD about OC and detaining people?

Idk. You would probably have to ask boyscout. I bet he would know best. I got my phone ready in case with a link to the preemption law saved for offline viewing on my phone along with other laws.

When I filed my complaint when I had my open carry encounter they officer said that they are training all officers (again?) on how to deal with open carry.

Good to hear. I seem to recall reading that you OCed in Portland PD? So I know some of the force must know. I wonder if the beat cops know.

Well, I OCed for 3 hours in Portland this week without issue, but I didn't see many officers, so I don't even know if they knew I was there.

I also got a letter from PPD this week about my complaint regarding my latest video. They said the results of their internal investigation were that the officer followed department policy. So apparently stopping people without suspecting them of crime is within policy.

I carried for maybe an hour and a half before the rain started. No issues with exception of apparently coworkers of my wife saw me and were giving her crap about me OC'ing. They were "scared for their safety." Idiots...

Tell them she's not scared for hers cause she's got a man with a gun to protect her.

Wish I joined up a couple weeks ago, I would have been happy to join you. I am planning to OC in Portland Saturday. Stopping by the airport to pick up my mother too, that could get interesting.

Seriously? You think they're idiots for being scared?
I think you're out of touch with the average human my friend.
I support gun rights: in fact, just bought one..
But good heavens, you walk around a place like Portland, Maine with a frikin deadly weapon in yer side...
Of COURSE folks look funny at you and worry..

I just think you need a better perspective that's all.
It's one thing to support folks rights to carry a firearm, but do you really need to have it hanging on yourself openly visible?
Why not just CC and call it good?

You realize this is Opencarry.org right? The whole point of this website is for information and stories about OPEN carry. We all carry OPENLY. I think you may have found your way to the wrong community. What makes Portland Maine any different from any other place where open carry is legal, accepted, and protected by the laws of the State of Maine?
