Ames home gun sale ban reflects intolerance, not safety

The first vote to ban home gun sales in Ames, Iowa, was taken Tuesday evening, when “[t]he Ames City Council unanimously voted 6-0 to add firearm sales to the list of prohibited home occupations

The next Ames City Council Meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 23, at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall, 515 Clark Avenue, Ames , Iowa 50010. Meetings typically accommodate public comments for both agenda and non-agenda items.

the issue that has been forced on him is bigger than one person and should be of concern to all Iowa gun owners who won’t stand by while intolerant hoplophobes use the force of government to impose their ignorance and prejudices on everyone else.

A political subdivision of the state shall not enact an ordinance
regulating the ownership, possession, legal transfer, lawful
transportation, registration, or licensing of firearms when the
ownership, possession, transfer, or transportation is otherwise
lawful under the laws of this state. An ordinance regulating
firearms in violation of this section existing on or after April 5,
    1990, is void.
So let them pass their ordinance. Then sue the living daylights out of them

And dont give me that "home rule" BS either. It clearly states in "home rule" that the rule is only legal if it "

enact any law governing their local affairs unless such law is inconsistent with a state law.
