Well let me tell you, that was an exciting meeting.

First Officer Fish told me VCU was private property and I had to have a permit to video and that the courts had upheld that. I told him we were going to have to ask the courts because I wasn't going to quit. Officer fish spoke with his supervisor, then went away, then back to apologize, then back....
Later a candidate for city council gave me 13 minute and 12 second exclusive which was interesting. Did you know the VCU Police department was a breeding round for perverts..her words.

A very interesting night.

I can't remember any of the details, but that seems familiar. Around the time of the VCDL rally at VCU last December wasn't there a case in the news involving one of the VCU PD along those very lines? Only reason it sticks in mind is when we were there I half jokingly said to someone I needed to watch for any of the campus cops eyeing Logan for too long. It had slipped my mind completely until I just read the words you wrote

All in all a pretty good night for short notice during the week. Lots of orange GSL stickers going through the door. A number of VCU students and staff made a point of saying "Thank you" and that they agreed they should have the ability to defend themselves wherever they are.

PVC made his usual quality presentation to the local TV channels pointing out that those affiliated with VCU are effectively forced to be unprotected until the return home.

This has got to be fixed.

VCU Chief said...

Correct me if I got this wrong.

The Chief was on stage answering a question about why no alert went out after a rape in the N.E. Corner of the campus. Mumble mumble "and we send the alerts out so students can do what they need to to defend themselves" Defend themselves? Chief with all due respect; just what the hell are the students going to use in this defense? Cower in the closet, pull the blanket over their head, hide under the bed or desk. ( that worked well at VT ) Oh I got it run rally fast to a new safer school in CO. where they can carry. They may even get the dorm with all of the armed students, no worry about a mass shooting there.

I still don't know what it is!

Its called richmond ;)

Thanks for going guys. My sister is an alumni there.
For people unfamilar with the school vcu is not like alot of univeristies with a distinct campus. It is just in the middle of richmond. Everytime i visited i was amazed at the aweful security situation. Homeless/drug addicts laying all around campus, lots of gang activity just aweful. Honestly as a 200lb 25 y.o male with a 1911 i didnt feel safe there; as an unarmed 100lb 18 yearold female? I really think its nuts they dont want them to carry.

My opinion is if the university wants to disarm the students they need to take responsibility and liability for their security.
