Good for her! I hope that my daughter NEVER has to face the same situation, but I hope that if she does, my wife and I will have trained her well enough that she puts one in the 10 ring! This little girl (pardon me, young woman) needs a medal! (and her own handgun!)

GREAT end to that story. It's a shame a girl that young has to be involved in that situation, but people suck, so we all need to expect stuff like this. I just hope the PD doesn't try and get on the parents for having the gun accessible to a child or some bull like that...

Well, to reduce the traumatic effect she shot trough the door so all her eyes saw was the hole in the door.

Shooting someone through a wall/door is not the same as shooting them while staring them in the eye/face.

It's the WHOLE situation. Someone breaking into the house, having to get the family gun and not having anyone else at home to help, etc. She did the best she could and did a great job, but a Home Invasion in any sense of the matter is terrible for someone that young to go through...

I fully agree but sometimes the after affects are hard on anyone who harms another person even in self defense.

It was lucky that she did not have to shoot him while staring him in the eye.

Want to hear the most powerful 911 audio you've ever heard? Listen all the way to the end when the officer tells her she's ok.

Link to 911 call Durant OK home invasion

I want you to hold onto the gun until they (deputies) get there.

Can anybody get me the name of the dispatcher and the name/phone number of the best steakhouse in her AO? I want to send her there for the biggest, baddest steak dinner they have. (And if she's married/has kids I'll pay for the whole family.)

Of course, telling the deputies she was coming out with a cell phone (not a gun! She does not have a gun!) was icing on the cake.

Seriously, would someone try to get the info and PM me?

ETA - a quick map check shows she is close to both Texas and Arkansas, so feel free to include anything in what she might consider reasonable driving distance for a free meal with all the fixin's.

stay safe.

Man we better start making stricter gun control laws to control violence. NOT!!!
But I do agree that gun control works. Criminals have more control of the guns!

Naifeh's steak house north of the Choctaw Casino or the Roadhouse on second street is about the only steak places in Durant for steaks. As to who the dispatcher was I don't who that would be...
