Any Texas-certified firearms instructors in VA - particularly NOVA?

Met a gentleman at a gun show this past weekend who is from Texas, here temporarily for work. His Texas concealed-carry permit is expiring in a few months and he has to re-certify this time around.

I told him I would ask to see if anyone knows of a TX-certified firearms instructor in the area who could help him out.

The issue of getting a VA non-resident permit is a separate issue. Right now, his preferred solution would be someone from Texas.

Tess - If memory serves, a Texas certified instructor must physically conduct the class in Texas. It cannot be done out of state, I believe.

There's always the idea of getting a Utah permit as well, as long as he applies while his Tx permit is still valid.

Eh? A Virginia license is honored by Texas.

Yes, he has to renew in Texas, but he can carry using his VA license in Texas for as long as he wishes (and it remains valid).

Texas Virginia Reciprocity

It appears here according to TX DPS's website that there is a reciprocity agreement between the commonwealth and Texas on CPL reciprocity.

It looks, from that contract, as if a Virginia non-resident permit WILL cover him in Texas until he can recertify there. I'm no lawyer, but I'm going to pass that cite on to him. Thank you.

Texas does not distinguish between residents and non-residents, no matter where your license is issued.
