But really, 7 days w/o a cellphone makes one go crazy? I don't even own one ... people I knew just assumed I was fine, duh.

I think you missed the part in the video where the lady, clearly overwhelmed with emotion, states that because of this little girl and her father, she was able to charge her phone and contact her family to let them know she is alright.

Cellphones are quite important, especially in a disaster stricken area where it can be your only form of communication. Yeah yeah, people can survive without a phone. But ya know what, we can survive without toilet paper and clothing. Now let's see a show of hands of people actually willing to forgo those things. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Didn't think so. :p

They should have bugged out. They should have packed their cars with their cell phones and laptops and chargers and bugged out.

There are always too many people who think they can ride out a big storm.

Sometimes they die.

Sometimes their kids die too.

The governor told them to bug out, and even the mayor did not listen to him.

Anyone without a car needs to pack their bag and take a bus or train.

Anyone that cannot afford a bus or train needs to pack a backpack and start hitchhiking.
