Below is a clip from The Americanization of Emily with James Garner and Julie Andrews.
Julie Andrews considers this her favorite among the movies she's made.
A little plot description is vital to understanding. Andrews has invited her new love interest, Garner, over to meet her mom in London in 1944. The clip below starts with Andrews and Garner walking out onto the back patio. Just moments earlier, Andrews told Garner that her mother was pretending her father and brother, both killed in the war, were still alive. The implication being that mom couldn't face their deaths. Andrews asked Garner to play along.
I would invite you to consider whether Garner's character says anything of value for this Veterans Day.
