I took my son out for some shooting and he had a great time.

(I guess that for that first exploding target there was no need to call in "Fire for effect!" once he got the range. :lol: )

Moundman, this is a dangerous habit to get your kids in.

Soon he'll no more about firearm laws and the Constitution than most lawyers.

Then he'll be going through a brick of .22s faster than what you can provide them for him. You do know what happens when an addict can't get their fix don't you? They need something to take the edge off, he may move up to something more powerful. Best case scenario he'll stop around the .30 cal, but you'll never know. There is always a rush hitting targets at 600 yds, but as young as he is starting he'll want to go further.

You may have a Cheytac going to the range with you in the near future.


I think that everyone should teach their kids how to safely handle a firearm. If everyone did, the world would be a much safer place for them.

This is fantastic! I wish more people would do this with their kids. I grew up afraid to even talk about guns.

Thanks everyone. I give him all the credit. He's the one that got me back into guns. It's just really nice that we both have an interest we can enjoy together.

Kids and guns...

A good mix in my mind.

If the kids and the firearms are going to reside in the same house, they'd better get to know each other.

Each of my kids went to the range with Papa when they were 6. They had already learned the touch only with permission rule at home and we trained on the basics with our .22. Of course, my oldest has shot all sorts of stuff by now but the .45-70 kinda freaked him out...
