    Bulk ammo?

I'm looking for somewhere to buy bulk 9mm ammo, preferably a decent balance between price and quality ammo. My gun only has a few hundred rounds through it so I don't really want to use reloads. The best thing I could find on AmmoToGo was 1000 rounds of Wolf 9mm for $199 but I heard Wolf has SOME problems with the coating they put on their casings, depending on what you fire it from.

If any of you do, where do you get your bulk ammo from?

Hope it was your purchase that changed the availablilty to - that happened fast. Also note that manufacturer is - Federal, but brand is Champion - missed that the first go round. The customer reviews are very high though. American Eagle is also made by Federal. http://www.bulkammo.com/1000-rounds-...eral-115gr-fmj

Hahaha...when I got done putting in my credit card information I got the "This product is no longer in stock" error message. Crap...

the AE is also out of stock. I do know that Federal makes great ammo, so I'm going to try and find it somewhere else though.

    Thank you!

I ordered from Freedom Munitions a few weeks back...250 rounds of 9mm, 150 of 38 special, and 100 of 357 Magnum. The 9mm and 38 specials were reloads, and the 357s were new nickel plated brass.

I haven't tried the 9mm yet, but did shoot some 38 specials the other day. They're nothing special, but seemed accurate enough and didn't dirty my gun up too much.

9mm 115gr RN reloads are $184/1000 for reloads or $194/1000 for new brass.

    http://www.freedommunitions.com/category-s/1818.htm

(unfortunately prices have gone up since my order on 11/3. I paid $44.79 for 250 9mms and $11.99/50 for reloaded 125gr 38 specials).

With proper attention to detail, reloads are as safe and of equal quality as commercial ammo and since your the re-loader you have full quality control over them

My cost for a box of 50 rounds of 9mm is $5.82. Also with reloading you are not subject to the ups and down of the ammo supply chain. But it also depends on how much shooting you do, I do about 200 rounds a week so it pays off for me significantly. The cost of getting into reloading will never be any cheaper than it is today.

Freedom is a bit like sex, when your getting it you take it for granted, when you're not you want it bad, other people get mad at you for having it and others want to take it away from you so only they have it.

I buy from https://store.getontargetammo.com/. I've met the owner, and he's a great guy. His ammo is some of the cleanest and most consistent I've ever shot. He personally backs the reliability by saying if you have any issue or failure, let him know and he'll make it right. Sure, it's a bit more expensive, but your getting a great product, and for me, keeping my money in the local area.

    Gun Shows and Reloads

In Reno I generally buy ammo at the gun show, they probably have one every month or so. There's a company that has a big booth and their prices are pretty good, I believe their name is Miwall out of Grass Valley, CA. It's a pain to carry a couple of thousand rounds of ammo back to the car, but you get it done and then you have your ammo, no shipping charges but state tax. If you buy even more ammo you can ask them first if they will let you borrow their hand cart, that makes life a lot easier. I have ordered from cheaperthandirt when away from home and they had good prices at the time. Shipping charges are a must to look at since ammo is so heavy, free shipping is a plus $25-35 in price.

I use handgun reloads for practice and have never had a problem with them. The company at the show sells them and the quality has been fantastic for years, I've gone through thousands of reload rounds. I get 1000 .40cal in an ammo can (worth a few bucks) for about $190, 9mm for about $140, as opposed to probably $325 and $270 for new (please don't hold me exactly to prices, this is off the cuff, but close). That's an enormous difference and the price plays a big part in your practice psychology. Whether you want to admit it or not, if your know a 10 round mag is going to run you $3.25 and you'll probably shoot at least ten mags and then maybe five 15 round magazines of 9mm at say $4.00 each, you might space your practices further apart.

Of course always make sure you are getting a quality product before you go all in. Buy a smaller size of a few reload companies, read the reviews online if possible, and give them a try. If the quality is high then you might just have found yourself a great way to save money. As for harming your firearm, I would ask a few gunsmiths, but that's a numbers question as well. If you save $100 on a thousand rounds and it takes ten thousand rounds to ruin your $200 barrel I'd say buy a couple extra barrels
