Can someone explain to me which sign is proper to prevent conceal or open carry. And which ones can be ignored?

Can someone explain to me which sign is proper to prevent conceal or open carry. And which ones can be ignored?

I am sure you will get more of an exact legal answer from some of our more on top of it posters. However my very, very simple response is, no sign on any private business that may say no weapons no matter how it is worded, open carry or concealed has any legal consequence in the state of NV. Private business is the majority of all facilities we walk into. Casinos, shopping centers, restraints, Dr Offices just a small sample. As for the gun stay out areas are of course schools, most airport have restrictions, signs posted on police departments, state or federal government facilities do have legal consequences if ignored. With that said there is some signs seen posted on some state facilities showing a NRS, which is incorrect for open carry. To make it easy on me I just do not carry into a government facility or post offices.
A private business that does not allow weapons can turn it into a trespassing issue if one was not to leave after being asked. They are required to give you a warning of trespassing if one was to refuse at that point the law can be called and one can be arrested for trespassing. As far as a legal sign private business are not required to post any sign if they do not allow firearms. State and federal facilities are, if they do not allow firearms.
This is my simplified mode of action any private business sign or no sign I walk in. If they ask me to leave which has be only been twice in the past 3 years I leave. By law, private business must ask you to leave and then warn of trespassing before the law can get involved. For me to make it easier I just do not carry into most posted government facilities.

First, no sign can prevent anything. All it can do is affect those who respect its stated desire.

But, legally speaking, signs on private property have no weight of law in NV. A sign can be posted saying "No Guns" or it can say "No Purple Shoes." It is still legal to carry a gun and to wear purple shoes. You are just doing it against the stated request, which is not legally binding. However, upon personal contact with a private property owner's representative, they can ask you to leave their private property. They don't need a sign to back them up (so don't mention it if they don't have one) and they can do it for any reason that does not violate a civil right. They can't ask you to leave because you are Jewish. They can ask you to leave because your purse doesn't match your shoes. If you refuse to leave, you can be charged with Trespassing. The Trespassing charge will be the same whether you are armed or not. It is not a charge related to the weapon.

Now, a sign on a public (government) building or facility might have force of law. As a public building, you cannot be trespassed if you have lawful business there. And government does not have the authority to disarm you. Government does have the authority to ban concealed weapons at its facilities. So if a public building is posted or has metal detectors, at every public entrance, it is illegal to carry a concealed firearm there. But it is not illegal to openly carry a firearm there. Even if the sign generically says "No Guns," by law it only applies to concealed firearms, not those openly carried. Some government buildings are in clear violation of the law in this regard, notably Clark County, City of Las Vegas, and City of North Las Vegas - the usual suspects. I've heard the Nye County Sheriff's Office is also in violation.

Do not apply this freedom to a federal facility.

To reply directly to the actual question the op asked, "which sign is proper"? the NRS ( NRS 202.3673 3.(b) says only:
(b) A public building that has a metal detector at each public entrance or a sign posted at each public entrance indicating that no firearms are allowed in the building, unless the permittee is not prohibited from carrying a concealed firearm while he or she is on the premises of the public building pursuant to subsection 4.

As there is no description of a "proper' sign, any sign will do if it is on the correct building and all signs are meaningless otherwise.

So...the court in down town las vegas is not off limits for open carry?

The federal court is, under federal law. There is no law that restricts open carry in state court, however you should be aware that the judges can make rules, as they like and can, IMO & IANAL, enforce them under at least contempt of court. You may spend time in the pokey if you annoy a judge in the courthouse.

The signs, I usually see, say "No firearms are allowed in the building in accordance with NRS 202.3673". I believe that meets the requirement of the NRS, which covers the concealed carry requirements.

Just like MAC said I'm not aware of any sign that prevents open carry. Signs on private property are just an indication on that business' desire/policy and carries no weight of law. Of course failure to leave if asked may result in a trespass.
