Need shooting info for a guy moving to Hampton Roads area

Guy I know is headed to the Hampton Roads area to start on a government contract. He has asked for info about:
LR (long range), benchrest, USPSA, good camping spots, the mandatory list of sights, etc...
He will probably begin OCing as soon as he crosses the state line, which makes this OC-related.

    Anybody? Anybody? Bueller?

    Thanks in advance.

    stay safe.

    Ranges

I have not been here since it became C2 but: http://www.thec2center.com/dailyrangerates.html

This camp ground is almost across the road from C2: http://www.northlandingbeach.com/cam...ch/default.asp

I belong to the Airfield Shooting Range in Wakefield, the longest range is 100m, but you have to join or be a guest of a member. http://airfieldshootingclub.org/

Oceana Naval Air Station has Skeet, Trap and 5-Stand for the shotgun shooters. You do not have to be military to enter the base or shoot there.

    Help this helps some.

He has no idea yet - he's in the process of doing the paperwork on the job and will only begin hunting for a place once he gets here.

Have never been but, yes C2

As I have never been there I would have to agree (based on what I hear from my customers) C2 is the best range in the area for any type of long range shooting.

My wife and myself have heard good things about northlanding but see rule 23 http://www.northlandingbeach.com/cam...uidelines.html
and if you don't want to click "No firecrackers, fireworks, firearms or any type of explosives are allowed."

There are a few State Parks with beach access like First Landing http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state_parks/fir.shtml
they have cabins, bike trails and tent camping short drive to ocean front and can have a campfire (I think). Best to go just before or after tourist season.

There is False Cape State Park too but I haven't been there http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state_parks/fal.shtml

There are a lot of nice concerts on the ocean front and the Pungo Strawberry Festival is nice.

All close to the Virginia Beach or Tidewater area.

    Skid,

Lafayette Gun Club (LGC: http://lafayettegunclub.org/) has an outdoor 50yd and 100yd range, as well as a 24/7 indoor pistol range (which I put to good use in the wee hours). They have monthly "practical pistol" matches (no membership required), and were in the process of getting an outdoor range exclusively for that purpose before I left the area.

I can recommend AGAINST Bob's gun range in Norfolk. I've been flagged there more times than I can remember.

Wouldn't really want to camp anywere in Hampton Roads except maybe the dismal swamp area and not during the buggy Summer. The Back Bay area is also an option, and there's at least one good campground on the shore. The mountains aren't that far for a once every couple of months sort of thing.
