State line
If you're floating a river does anyone know which laws apply? For example, say I'm floating through DBoone, do national parks laws apply or state laws? I know there's a law somewhere I read allowing bank access on private property to a certain number of feet from the waterline but that's all I recall.
I think it depends on WHERE in the river you are. For example, the Kentucky Indiana border at Henderson actually extends across the river to the Indiana side of the river. When Evansville opened up a riverboat casino initially they stated it would go up and down the river. Kentucky told them gambling was illegal in the state of Kentucky so if it ever left the dock it would be boarded and seized by Kentucky. The riverboat has never left dock. OTOH, further east, the state line is almost in the MIDDLE of the river. So carrying would be legal under KY law until you hit that spot. But I guarantee you there are no signs out in the water to tell you.
Me personally, I would familiarize myself with the statelines in the area I plan to be boating in, particularly any visible landmarks, (Google Earth would be good for this). I would then give a wide berth to that line. As to State Park laws applying to waterways I don't see how that's possible but maybe you could contact the Parks and Recreation Bureau and ask.
