As Expected: This Just In From A Wisconsin State Representative

Connecticut Shooting Calls for Bipartisan Action to Keep our Kids Safe

    Dear Neighbor:

The school shooting in Connecticut broke our hearts today. All of us who are parents or who love children can’t even imagine the pain these parents are suffering. As we learn more about the mass murderer in Connecticut and how he obtained his weapons, Democrats and Republicans need to work together to do all we can to ensure that what happened there can’t happen here. It can be done. Three years ago, Democrats and Republicans worked together to pass the Wisconsin law that keeps guns out of the hands of people who have been involuntarily committed for mental illness. In the meantime, all of us in Wisconsin are keeping the families touched by this horrific tragedy in our thoughts and prayers.

After the incidents in Colorado, Oak Creek, Brookfield and Connecticut, now more than ever, we need to come together to strengthen our laws to protect all of us—especially our children—from yet another mass murder. In that spirit, please know that I am continuing to build a bipartisan effort to keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers in the wake of the Azana shooting in Brookfield. We have already met with police officers, prosecutors, judges and victim advocates to develop proposals aimed at stopping gun violence by domestic abusers.

Please share your ideas with me about how we can stop another tragedy like the one we saw in Connecticut from happening again.

    Sincerely,

    REP. JON RICHARDS
    WISCONSIN STATE ASSEMBLY

I suggest we send him e mails saying that all mass shootings so far have occured in GFZs. These leaders of ours never think of it. If they want to keep their GFSZs then have armed security there. I'll be happy for a few bucks more on my property tax for that. Or get rid of the GFSZs and let the admin and teachers be armed after tactical training. Any suggestions? The other thing, create a barrier between the entrances by creating a security zone and replace all glass with bullet proof stuff. I know all this is money but...

I agree - we need to do away with "gun-free" zones so people stay safer.
But why does this loony think that a law would stop a psychopath?

Why did they waste their time & our tax money duplicating a federal law... another law that will have no effect?

And why don't they include pro-carry people in their conversations? You shouldn't have victims' groups involved, they are too emotional on an already emotional subject matter.

So, how much are we going to take? How much more of this bloated government are we going to allow to trample us over and continue to pass legislation and make decisions that take away freedom instead of preserve it? Only a government on the verge of tyranny punishes free and law abiding citizens for acts committed by others.

We have a government spending our country to death

We have a government that is more concerned about social issues and having its hand in every personal issue it can, when it has NO place in the federal gov.

We have a gov. that allows branches such as the EPA and IRS do just about anything as they please.

We have a gov. that taxes, taxes and taxes, and I barely see what it is doing to benefit MY liberty and my families liberty.

We have a gov. that is now attempting to suppress our god given right to defend ourselves, destroy our gun freedoms, and we are ALLOWING them to do this without so much as a peep.

150 years ago, when politicians got out of control, the people joined together, marched down to town hall, the capital building, or wherever the transgression was taking place and demanded that they stop.

Now we sit and email and beg these bloated politicians to listen to us when all they are worried about is preserving their ass for the next election cycle.

This government is owned by us. We are in charge. How much longer are we going to continue to just let these people walk all over us and our constitution?

This is the day that politicians have been dreaming of for years; to begin to weaken the armament of the legal, law abiding American citizens and to make us totally under the control of the state.

The primary purpose of the right to bear arms is to protect the people from a gov. out of control. There is no reason to say otherwise. The second and immediately in tow reason is to protect our homes, property and family from those who would do us harm.

There is only one reason that this looks good to both sides; republican and democrat. We have no say. We have no rights. We have nothing that they don't give us.

I'm not sure what needs to be done at this point, but we have a runaway freight train of a gov. and our voices are not being heard.

even if guns were banned, and all we got was rocks, there still would be violence, and multiple killings as assailants would just carry multiple rocks, or use the same one over and over. the Gun Free Slaughter Zone must be abolished.

It is not a problem unique to America, mass murderers are in every country. Don’t have to look far to see evil can succeed without a firearm. But none of these incidents fit the liberal media anti-gun template so they never get the coverage of a gun spree.
I would venture to say that if a Samurai sword wielding maniac walked into an elementary school the outcome would be as awful and tragic as what happened in Connecticut.

Well, basically, my point is that there comes a time when we need to resist.

The governments job is not to sit and pass useless laws every single day they are in session as they do. That was not the founders intention. These people think they are doing their job when they do this.

How much tax is too much tax?

How much laws against our cars and transportation are too much?

How much gov. spending is too much?

How much government telling me what to eat and how to live is too much?

How much gun laws and restrictive laws too much?

I don't think the founders gave this much power to the federal gov. Yet they have taken it.

I already feel taxes are way to high. Add up your property taxes, state taxes, dmv taxes, federal taxes, tax tax tax tax....and see how much you really make in a year.

So yes, we all know that if they decide to heavily restrict firearms, only the criminals and the gov. (one in the same to be honest) will have the true power.

All, except for the last, are evidence that in our American society, that it is probably impossible to kill 26 defenseless people in the space of 2 or 3 minutes in a confined space with anything other than a gun as the tool to do so. Holmes and Cho also support the position that the gun is the most efficacious (non -bomb, non chemical, non-biolgical) weapon for homicidal attacks.

The bomb as a technology is, of course, one way to kill dozens, hundreds, even thousand or millions. But that is a different category of weapon. Not one we are talking about now.

Nah. I don't think so. Never been done. This country goes back over two centuries. 26 people have never been killed in two or three minutes in a confined space by a homicidal maniac with a sword. Or a knife. Or a cross-bow. Or a rock.

I'd bet a lot of money that it will never happen, either.

You seem to overlook that we are talking about a room full of kindergartners here, so yes a grown man with a sword could be very lethal. Just because it never happened makes it impossible? Until now...this never happened either. As far as gaining entrance with only a sword; one smack of the safety glass the window is gone...reach in and grab the panic bar... simple.

But it has happened, hundreds of innocent Native American children were slaughtered on the blade of US Soldiers saber. A killer does not need to worry about time with a silent weapon as the saber. That nut case could have killed many more with a blade and law enforcement may never have been notified. One of the early cases I worked on was a family hacked to death with a hatchet, nobody in the neighborhood knew what happened until somebody finally walked into their small business. The daughter survived with severe brain injuries. The killer was never caught.

26, 12, 32, .... killings in a confined space in the U.S. in a few minutes time. Never been done with a sword, a knife, a cross-bow, a rock, etc.

Probably impossible. 2 centuries plus in US. No one's done it yet. It's a black swan.

Maybe we should add a layer of sword-proof glass to all the bulletproof glass we're going to install?

I've seen this article, along with others that say it was a COMPOUND bow, not a cross bow..... but then again, it is the media we are talking about.
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...cide-note.html

A quote from the article: "He had smuggled the compound bow - a type much more powerful and effective for hunting than a simple, wooden bow - onto campus beneath a blanket, Walsh said."
Sounds like they are trying to lay the ground work to ban deadly "assault" bows. I can hear the arguments already "Nobody needs a quiver that can hold more than 5 arrows"...

Wait, he is writing as if he is our master, aren't "We the People" supposed to be the masters of our government??

They are not our rulers, they are our elected representatives! I think it is time we start reminding them of that on a constant basis.

Well I will take that as a compliment, but I would never want to be president. And if I were to run on about even a third of what I just said, I would be considered a nut and an extremest. Maybe even labeled a terrorist.

Funny thing is, the reason we are in this mess is because people are so afraid to speak up. Since these days, it is incendiary speech to feel your gov. is out of control. Just look at what the media does to the Tea Party.

And now, what they are doing to the gun owner.
